Fan of MC Pipokinha; currently thinking about how the Chad Mitchell Trio foreshadow both punk rock and adult contemporary music. The people united will never be defeated. https://koganbot.substack.com https://www.youtube.com/@koganbot

2nd viral riff discovered lurking behind 1st, so I rework my APT Thai substack post, adding edits, updates + 2,000 words of brand-new footnotes. I use the phrase "stitched-together Frankenstein creature" and somehow don't mean the piece itself. Think I've improved it koganbot.substack.com/p/apt-thai

koganbot.substack.comAPT ThaiContains the word “motif” and the word “viral” and (REVISED VER.) a couple thousand other words added on Dec 26, 2025

In "Grand Exit" Edmund Lowe goes philosophical on us. A debonair fire investigator, he explains to Ann Southern that a fire is like a love affair. It seems you don't know the reason for it until the flame has died down. In other words, the reason is to be found in the ashes Tom Pryor NYTimes 11/4/35

Favorite band when I was 18! And still to this day! At 18 was going back to volatile early stuff; 1st heard the song at 15, released when I was 10, show was when I was 11, everything (presenter, fans, words, tune) is compelling and totally at odds with everything else www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aJm...

Favourite band when I was 18. And always will be!

..."at odds with everything else" i.e., singer at odds with songwriter even tho singer *is* the songwriter, fans try to outshout the show, host says band doesn't care what you think, song lyrics correctly say this is a lie, but performance says it's true, too, and at the end bkgd vocals seek beauty.

My calling DJ Weng contemplative doesn't mean I have an opinion as to what he's contemplating. In 1964, when Aristotle Onassis was visiting Los Angeles, a newspaper photo found Onassis paused outside the Buster Keaton residence, the caption being, "Aristotle Contemplating The Home Of Buster."

Realizing that my use of "AC" is idiosyncratic: Wikip tells story of easy listening format evolving into adult contemporary, whereas my version has AC as something different from easy listening that ends up replacing it, is something of a spillover from rock, folk, & soul as their audiences grow.

Who is Teddy? I have a To Do list on my computer that I haven't updated since June [the fate of To Do lists], and on it *twice* is the instruction "Read Teddy." But I have no memory of who this "Teddy" is. Might he be one of you?

Revised top ten: Six Sex falls to four, Six Seven drops to seven and eight, and KRZ's remix of "Big Boom" disappears from the Web altogether.

Heard 4 on Dave's list: like Ultra and Pixie Dust, disappointed by Baddies <3 Moliy (tho I <3 "Backie," which makes me a baddy for Backie), am half thru Budots Republic and like it. As my own discovery, of the 3 DH PP Thailand Remix albs/EPs I've heard, I <3 this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiJb...

I previously thought "and no message could have been any clearer" was "and no mustache could have been any clever" which obviously makes no sense.

This absolutely nails the generally stupid Conventional Wisdom re Em & Taylor. @otherdavemoore.com and I got the crap bullied out of us on I Love Music for writing about (obv sexy) Taylor, Miley, Ashlee, Marit et al., meanwhile imbeciles at Jezebel etc. were calling Taylor anti-sex.

Dean Buckley@deanbuckley.bsky.social

the one whose very broad fandom is almost always imagined in a gendered way, eliding fans of the opposite sex to the extent their sex appeal somehow ends up one of the more underdiscussed elements of their celebrity? and who has inspired much neuroticism about their influence on their own gender?

This and responses and subthreads is one of the great threads ever, and it mentions me!

Watching everyone decide an overexposed 30-something blonde wordsmith pop star sucks now because of their new album Encore, which has a cover of them standing in front of velvet theatre curtains............... We really are permanently recycling the second Bush admin
