A short poem about ADHD: Needed tea, Went for a wee. Got back to my desk, Hands empty.

Today's silly coding adventure: interleaved scanlines deduped & "woven" into a 1-dimensional "fibre" for fast decompression directly into a small GPU-uploadable buffer - random access animation frames without deltas, no scratch, no reconstruction.

Just so you know, if you reposted some random shit 1 month ago, and then liked ALL my posts and started following me, and never replied to anything, that'll get you blocked. Because that's fucking weird behaviour, frankly.

I'd have felt so ridiculous and self-conscious putting on an outfit like this just 6 months ago. Brains are weird.

Fuck it, if you know me and you have added me here, and you see this, you now know. If you recognise me.

If people could just stop trying to throw every problem at multimodal models, that would be awesome. Want to read an electric meter? We have segmentation and OCR for that. Or we can train a model on the task specifically. ChatGPT is NOT a good fit. Want to detect objects? THAT EXISTS TOO!

Specialised systems win over generalised systems every time, in cost, accuracy, performance. I'm "taking a break" from my career partly because I'm here to find solutions to problems, not to just integrate everything with ChatGPT. I live to solve, not integrate. Give me my work back.

It should be obvious by now that one does not start with the solution. There is no panacea and there never has been.

I really want to love BSky, but it feels like you can either be someone by pumping out content and have your posts seen, or you can be nobody by posting occasionally and never be seen.

Many movies based on computer games fail to capture the essence of the source material, but few as badly as 2024's The Outrun.

There seems to be some debate about what the Antikythera Mechanism was used for. I reckon it was probably used for keeping Kytheras away. Clue's in the name.

If you play a video at half speed (e.g. using the controls on YouTube or NetFlix or whatever else) people sound drunk

I want to like bsky, but it seems like you can be "somebody" by posting a lot and get your posts seen, or be "nobody" (even to your friends) and follow a few "somebodies". It doesn't fit the need of groups of real-life friends, and so I can't recommend it to those still enduring Zuckville.

One day my ear was itching so badly that I was compelled to fish the only cotton bud in the house out of the bottom of a 1L bottle of isopropyl alcohol that I'd accidentally dropped it into months earlier.
