Honestly I'd suggest voting before Nov 3 and saving yourself a lot of stress. I know it's tough to get it done before the last day, but this is probably the year to push through.
The U.S. Department of Justice informed King County Elections Director Julie Wise this week that the administration is sending election monitors for the Nov. 3 midterms. It’s unclear what role federal election monitors will play or how many there will be in King County on Election Day.
What is the DOJ's interest in this? This is the kind of lawsuit the Dan S. Sullivan campaign should be running, not the DOJ. Does the federal government even have standing? (Guess we'll find out on the latter.)
Breaking news: The Justice Department has moved to preemptively block certification of the results of Alaska’s Senate race if Republican incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan loses his tight race against Democrat Mary Peltola next month.

One thing about having a small city council is there's only a one vote difference between a bare majority and a super majority. Convincing one CM to make a bad go-along-to-get-along vote turns a bill into something hard to veto.
Council Supermajority Passes New Licensing Law That Will Gradually Ban RVs in Seattle Sponsor Dan Strauss says he’ll find money in the budget to fund both his plan and Mayor Katie Wilson’s proposed RV safe lot.
If preservationists had their way, we'd never get another historic Notre-Dame Cathedral. Once you've built something you can't change it, according to them. Every century there were significant changes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:No...
Architect Ross Leventhal wants the building preserved because the addition isn't set back far enough from the existing structure. Thanks to a 2024 change in state law, mass-timber buildings don't have to comply with building setbacks.

I am APPALLED. What a craven, hateful piece of legislation. People in difficult situations need HELP, not to be held to higher standards and more draconian punishments than their wealthier neighbors.
The legislation passes on the vote I predicted, with only Lin, Foster, and Rinck voting no. Strauss, Kettle, Hollingsworth, Rivera, Saka, and Juarez all voted yes.
i know it's a badge of honor for these chuds, but finding creative ways to be shitty is not a good thing. memo to Dan Strauss.
Another longtime business guy, Eugene Wasserman, praises Strauss for addressing the RVs he has seen in Ballard for years, and says they could fund more shelter to help. "A really creative approach to this problem."
Cecil Andrus and Ted Chiang. I don't meet many famous people because i'm not particularly starstruck. I would be slayed meeting Mr. Hooper, Gordon, or Maria though. (I know Will Lee died.)
Regardless of their level of mainstream fame, who's someone you were actually starstruck to meet? (This question brought to you by a starstruck-resistant dude I know who didn't bat an eye meeting Jack Black, but lost his ability to form sentences upon meeting Gordon from Sesame Street.)
This might be Washington State focused, but I suspect a lot of what they're talking about will affect other states too.

The NY Times publishing a video critical of their own coverage is nice I guess. But I'd really prefer they actually fix their coverage. Not a slight on this Mark Jacob fella. He's absolutely correct.
🧵🧵🧵 The NY Times posted a 15-minute video today in which I got to tell NYT what’s wrong with its coverage. They said they saw my critical posts on Bluesky and invited me to do a video with them to air my grievances. Weird, right? I didn’t hold back. I blasted their sanewashing of MAGA extremism.

I don't understand a) why Wiener would feel like a couple of weeks would make that much of a difference, or b) why Pelosi would consider an early announcement a mortal sin. Seems like childish attitudes from everyone involved. sfstandard.com/2026/10/13/s...
