Watched: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 🍿 This show is excellent. I didn’t enjoy the last season as much as the rest, however it’s still solid. Seeing so many of the Gilmore Girls actors working together was really fun too.

Watched: Terminator 2: Judgment Day 🍿 This was showing at the local theater today for the 35th anniversary. I still remember being so freaked out by the special effects in the original showing. We opted to sit in the DBo... https://kimberlykg.com/2026/08/30/watched-terminator-judgment-day-this.html

Watched: Spider-Man: Brand New Day 🍿 We went to see this yesterday morning. Great movie.

It was another long day of moving, but the end is in sight. This new home is going to be lovely once they get themselves settled. If I ever move again, I might just start by hiring one of those people to stand at the nearest corner w... https://kimberlykg.com/2026/08/17/it-was-another-long-day.html

This is how we’re all feeling and the day isn’t over yet.

The movers are here to help with all the bulky/heavy things. Having furniture at the new house will make moving the remaining stuff a lot easier. We’re all tired and sore which makes moving anything difficult.

I’m down in Santa Clara for a week helping my sister and her family move. Being a helper allows one to see all the emotions involved in the process, not just the work. It’s a lot no matter how you look at it.

I got to see LCD Soundsystem last night with Matt and Sam. It was a great concert and the weather was excellent. The smoke cleared out just in time.

I let my prescription run out so I’ve been miserable all day, but seeing this at the local bakery after getting my refill makes everything brighter.

Watched: Gifted 🍿 I enjoyed this. The cast is excellent.

Unexpected project: https://kimberlykg.com/2026/07/29/unexpected-project.html

Seeing The Odyssey in 70 mm is well worth it.

Watched: The Newsroom 🍿 We watched this series again recently, it’s just so good. Turns out people behaving with integrity is quite compelling.

Tall Ship - Collection: https://kimberlykg.com/2026/07/09/tall-ship-collection.html

We’re at the airport heading back to Oregon. Saying “I don’t want my vacation to end” doesn’t quite capture the emotion. This has been a good reminder of both who I am and how I’d like to be spending more of my time. Getting away from home sometimes is good for you, apparently. Ha!

These ships really are something. Seeing them together seems like a trip back in time. We had dinner with Ally and her shipmates this evening. Nice to get to know everyone just a little bit.

Well, this was incredible. Seeing Ally’s ship come into view was the most excited I’ve been in a long while. Look how beautiful she is!

The two closest pizza places close at 5 am and 6 am respectively. Hello Brooklyn. Another sign I’m not at home: there are police everywhere.

Going to New York for a hug. (And tall ships.): https://kimberlykg.com/2026/07/01/going-to-new-york-for.html

“Welcome, but be good!” Are you kidding me? We’re issuing passports with the phrase “Welcome, but be good”? To US citizens that use the document to leave the country? This is all the stupid I can take.

Watched: Master of the Universe 🍿 I knew I wanted to see this the first time I saw the trailer. I spent a lot of time as a kid watching He-Man with my brother. It was better than I expected, I appreciated that it laughed at itself.

Watched: Toy Story 5 🍿 I liked it.

Being at PyConUS makes me think I need to find more local tech meetups to attend. Talking with humans in real life about tech is rather fun.

I’m down in Long Beach this week for PyCon. It’s beautiful here. Walking around near the shore reminds me of living in San Diego but that feels like it happened about a million years ago. I’m looking forward to the conference though. (Not being in my house is good too.)

Sandia Mountains, from the east: https://kimberlykg.com/2026/05/04/sandia-mountains-from-the-east.html

I took my first backyard nap of the year today. Life has been fairly somber the last week so a nap among the trees was welcome. The temperature in Portland got up to 90 (it was 60 yesterday) but my backyard has enough trees and bamboo and such that it’s always a fair bit cooler.

A tragic loss: https://kimberlykg.com/2026/04/29/a-tragic-loss.html

Having acclimated to the new medicine, my sleep schedule has gone back to normal. Today though, is rough. This weekend was gloriously bright and beautiful but it’s so dark today. Finishing Ally's Bag: https://kimberlykg.com/2026/04/12/finishing-allys-bag.html

The doctor recommended I start taking some medication to help me feel better (less pain/anxiety). If sleeping all the time counts as feeling better, I guess it works. I’m crossing my fingers that this gets better, but I’m struggling to keep my eyes open just writing this sentence.

Who are we?: https://kimberlykg.com/2026/04/07/who-are-we.html Today, the President of the United States threatened to kill off an entire civilization that he only recently said he was coming to help. And yet, he’s still in office.

I’m in DC today, ready and able to vote to rein in this out-of-control war. Republicans control the Senate and the House – they need to have the courage to call us back into session and then vote to hold this President accountable.

The most important TACO Tuesday of our lifetime?

@sanders.senate.gov He's threatening to wipe out a civilization tonight and you're asking for money for an election in November?

While celebrating my neighbor’s 7th birthday this weekend, with dog treats for the birthday girl and all the good boys and girls walking by and cake and rosé for the adults, this beautiful creature made an appearance.

Project Hail Mary: https://kimberlykg.com/2026/03/18/project-hail-mary.html

blog.adafruit.com/2026/03/0… I’m not sure our tech future is working out as well as it could have.

One of the designers my software team works with opened his first PR on Friday. (AI was involved.) Anyone want to guess what every single meeting I’ve had since has been about?

The U.S. is going to run Venezuela now? I’m angry. I’m particularly angry that I expect everyone to grumble a little bit and then go back to pretending we’ll be able to vote these traitors out in the next election with no other action necessary.

Wordle 1,654 1/6* 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 It finally happened.

Watched: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair 🍿 This is being shown in 70mm at the Hollywood theater in Portland, Oregon right now. This was a real treat, even with sitting in a theater seat for four and a half hours.

Watched: The Family McMullen 🍿 We watched this movie and the prequel today. They were both rather fun.

Watched: The Roses 🍿 This was fun, but perhaps a little too serious for my liking at times.
