This must be the first film to make me start crying 30 minutes after I watched it. Happy tears. Like an emotional wave that hadn't yet reached the shore 🥲♥️🥰

🎃 Spooktober '26 📽️ 96/ Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma I've not been brave enough to revisit I Saw The TV Glow. The emotions it evoked were painfully visceral in a way that leaves me wary. I will. I need to. I will. Just not yet. However this I want to jump right back into. boxd.it/h0Ir73

boxd.itA ★★★★½ review of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026)There is something about Jane Schoenbrun's work that speaks to me on an emotional level that I can't intellectualise. So I'm finding myself identifying with this movie's final girl in a way I never ha...

🎃 Spooktober '26 📽️ 94/ Buffet Infinity Went in blind to this one and didn't regret it. One of my Spooktober highlights for sure. I will no doubt rewatch this again in the future but probably on a smaller screen as the visual noise is hard to handle on a big TV. boxd.it/h0BhGX

boxd.itA ★★★★ review of Buffet Infinity (2025)I loved this despite the visuals style making it painful to watch. Great job building up the sinister, otherworldly aspects but wish it could have given us a more satisfying ending.

“Of all the books I have ever reviewed that purported to offer a serious thesis, this is without question the most deranged. If you are seeking a Christmas present for someone you really don’t like, give them a copy.” Its critics, on the other hand, were less kind…..

telegraph.co.ukLiz Truss’s new book is the most deranged thing I’ve ever readLike an alcoholic who cannot admit they have a drinking problem, the former PM is convinced that everyone else is to blame for her failures

🎃 Spooktober '26 📽️ 88/ Sinners I resisted giving this 5 stars on release because I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting swept up in the hype of it. Rewatching it easily justifies the perfect score. boxd.it/gXBS8r

boxd.itA ★★★★★ review of Sinners (2025)The film touches on so many things and for each single thread you could remove it and the film would still be great but all of them together is what makes this such a magnificent tapestry.

🎃 Spooktober '26 📽️ 85/ The Omen It's been decades since I watched this and I had forgotten how good the OG was. Many have imitated it but few have succeeded in matching it. boxd.it/gWFn9R

boxd.itA ★★★★½ review of The Omen (1976)It's cultural significance can't be overstated but what surprised me most about this was the technical aspects. Some of the shots and camera work, especially the wind scenes scenes shot in Bishop's Pa...

I'm having a recurring pre-dream? The vision that fills my head before I drift to sleep, has repeatedly turned towards travelling at night in preindustrial times. A solo traveller urgently makes their way through the dark wooded lanes and byways with the final sputters of a flaming torch.

Kieran.boo!
@kieran.blue

Night after night I fall asleep watching this unknown figure make their way deeper into the darkness that surrounds them on all sides. They show no signs of sleepiness themselves and their urgency shows no intent of stopping to make camp. They just press on at a determined yet unhurried pace.

@kieran.blue

They are heading to not from, but towards what I do not know. There is no particular peril to be afraid of other than the everyday dangers of the time that any traveller would be concerned with. Maybe tonight I'll find out more...

🎃 Spooktober '26 📽️ 79/ Shin Godzilla So much media is zoomed in to focus on the small human scale experience of huge events, here we are distanced and being shown the bigger picture. I wish someone would give the same treatment to a zombie outbreak film. boxd.it/gUuJmt

boxd.itA ★★★★½ review of Shin Godzilla (2016)The cinematic equivalent of management games and I'm so down for it. When I saw this on release I was comparing it to the two big American movies and found myself completely baffled. Now I can appreci...

🎃 Spooktober '26 📽️ 76/ Godzilla -1.0/C The black and white version works so well. Watching this again I am now adamant that I need to see the new one on the highest screen I can. boxd.it/gTNHgx

boxd.itA ★★★★★ review of Godzilla Minus One (2023)The monochrome version is magnificent. I loved it the first time round but this time the human emotional elements came through so much more strongly. It had me in tears multiple times.

🎃 Spooktober '26 📽️ 77/ Beauty and the Beast (1978) If you've read Someone You Can Build a Nest In by @wiswell.bsky.social you must agree that this is the masion that Shesheshen lives in. Definitely not Disney but not the masterpiece I was promised either boxd.it/gTYnGd
