Kitty in pfp is my late Momo. I just adopted a dilute torbie named Gabi. All is in flux! Queer, disabled, nontheist (ex-vangelical), nerdy, depressive. Unusual likes: early music, black licorice, Tarkovsky movies. Pronouns: she/they kerendith many places

Another full moon (Hunter's Moon) pic from Sunday above Fonts Point. Besides a group of human visitors, this one has an a Halloween vibe with a "conspiracy" of ravens circling the steep cliffs of Fonts Point (Photo: Sicco Rood).

I finished the novel by Ken Liu, still can't sleep, and my mom just texted she's headed over. I'm spacing out sitting here on my bed. Um. Socks. I think I can put socks back on. I think I ought to be hungry. I made a sandwich around... 5:30 this morning? Hm. Not sure my brain approves of food.

I've never been to a Cheesecake Factory and I'm honestly kinda scared of them now. 😬 (Hmmmm. Am I more scared of Olive Garden? Hmmmm. I might be.)

I was kinda bad about getting something fun. I was really close to picking a goofy tiara, but I wound up getting a 9 x 9 metal baking pan and some gluten-free snack mix. And toilet paper. Party.

Damn. Lost my post when I opened the camera. It's 10 a.m. I meant to sleep a little more between 4 a.m. and meds time at 9 a.m. I failed. And I'm still late taking meds. I think I'm going to use my Amazon gift card. I need to buy something fun so I can tell myself I didn't use a gift card for TP.

Therapy was not fun tonight. Well. Okay. It wasn't traumatic or anything. But it was spent talking about the inescapable problem of not having enough money and being under more pressure every day to get more income when I have no idea about work. (I need to look at the job listings more often.

I don't really have a feel for how things are listed now or what qualifications are out there.) And I'm gonna have to find a housemate, I think, but... Like, I don't have house insurance right now. Argh, I just made myself sad and stressed out again. I'm gonna go play a bingo game now.

A Chicago police officer who shoved a woman who called 911 for help after her boyfriend beat and suffocated her more than six years ago will not be fired by city officials, according to records published Thursday. https://to.wttw.com/4zlZO2o

I was puzzled and irked that I slept so much in the days following a reduction in the dosage of my one beta-blocker. Then this evening I realized I have a sinus infection. Just a little one! It's barely anything! But it's wiping me out. Geez.

Used a Swiffer dusting thing on the corner that was all schmutzy. Filled out my ballot and put it in the mailbox. Watched the @wttw.bsky.social documentary on the 1893 Columbian Exposition. I was gonna try to do one more thing, but my back hurts again, so I'll go listen to my audiobook in bed.

I borrowed a horror anthology on Libby a few minutes ago. Just read a story by @cheriepriest.com, Good Night, Prison Kings. Wow. Really good one! Damn. I was definitely in the mood for some complicated justice. Have I wound down enough to sleep? Oh. Have to log my BP. Okay.

Gabi: Squeak! Me: Hey Gabs! Gabi: Squeak squeak! Me: What's up, piccola? Gabi: Squeak squeak... Me: Peeeeeee co la! Gabi: 👀 She's too young to know that commercial. 🫠

This isn't so bad. I forgot that my jeans are more comfortable since I lost a few pounds. Again. For like the third time.

I don't want to put on public clothes and go see the new cardiologist. ☹️😩☹️ 57°F outside. Do I wanna wear jeans or my new pants? I think the new pants might need hemming. Hmmmm.

I made a quiche. Yay! I discovered a lot of fridge stuff that I had to toss. Boo. I touched frozen broccoli too much. Booooooooo. But I'll have quiche in like an hour. 🥰

The Ghost Energy A&W root beer is a little weird. Starts a little bitter 'cause of all the caffeine. Gets to root beer but with that thin mouthfeel zero-sugar drinks often have. Then winds up at a kind of wintergreen taste. It isn't awful. It's fine. But a bit weird.

Nearly 6 a.m. How to put myself to sleep... I'm not actually very sleepy. I'm not really good for anything, either. I listened to my fall-asleep audiobook for a good long while and didn't even doze off for 5 minutes. (It's... uh... I forgot. By Louis Bayard. "The School of Night." It's pretty good!)

I'd rather not take Xanax. At this point, that would end in me sleeping until my bladder woke me around 11 a.m. and then going back to bed at 12:30, getting up at 3 p.m. and still being dopey for therapy at 7:30. Movie? Documentary? Something without much screaming.

My mother found a second Da Bird when she was cleaning the other week. I put a new feather attachment on it and swung it around for Gabs, fully expecting her to mostly stare at it and maybe catch the string in her mouth if I dangled it near her. She surprised me! She chased it! She batted it!

She jumped and made little chirpy noises and actually played! This is quite exciting. Tonight we had extra fun because a box with brown packing paper arrived a couple days ago, so I could toss it on the floor and have Da Bird hide in it. I've found her loafing on the carpet near...

My brain is just not having it with higher-voiced narrators for falling asleep lately, you see. Sometimes it will accept them. I've been know to fall asleep listening to Elizabeth Knowelden reading Lady Hardcastle books. But currently it wants masculine voices. And English accents.

Argh, headache. Can't get to sleep. I'm making coffee. And I'm gonna take some vitamin D and a painkiller. Do I want to switch from the Bosch audiobook I was trying to fall asleep to? Hm. The Mumbai mystery book was seeming okay.

I wrote "UK accents" first, but I started a crime novel narrated by Alan Cumming and that was not successful. Part of that could've been that the book made Glasgow sound like an untidy landfill. It was just too bleak. I know! I am astonished I could think such a thing!

Anyway, I have several audiobooks I'm partway into that are narrated by women and I have to try to listen to during waking hours, which is tricky, because I also want to listen to podcasts and read articles and fuck around in ways I can't while tucked in bed.

I didn't get a lot done today, but I did schedule an appointment for vaccinations next week and run the dishwasher. And I socialized, since my mom brought the dogs over this morning. Oh, and I bought Gabi a leaf bed with a cave that I stumbled across on Amazon, 'cause it's almost her 2nd birthday.

My mom said she was coming back to wash the upstairs curtains this afternoon. Well. I was very hungry. I have consumed nachos from McAlister's. I'm going to nap now. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hmmm. This is harder to answer than I thought. I think "weird" came pretty late. I started off around 4 with "I'm bad." And around 5 or 6 "I'm also pretty dumb." I'd say at age 8 I knew I was unusual because I got moved from 3rd grade to 4th. But weird? Late high school.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?

Oh my gosh. 🥹

A duo of brown and white spotted baby goats have found THE BEST furry rock to play on. It might be very big. It might have horns. It might moo. But it's an awful lot of fun. (Giant Bull is chewing his cud while being maximumly unbothered by the goat party taking place on his back.)

Come on, bud, I drank like 8 ounces of regular pop, ate some brownie, and put big spoons of applesauce in my mouth. I don't even know how I went lower than 200, nevermind being at 58 right now. (Don't mind me. I'll be fine. I'm just annoyed and whiny.)

So if the USPS gets privatized someday, what happens with the stuff that postal inspectors do? We just not gonna go after wire fraud anymore?

Started "Hokum" on Hulu. (I forgot to cancel Disney+.) Horror movie. It isn't bad so far, but the asshole writer main character just did something awful and I dunno if I wanna spend any more time with him.

Sarah LR@kerendith.bsky.social

Coffee is ready! So, coffee and meds. I think I want to watch something while I do that. Hm. Horror movie? Cartoon? Reacher? I'm halfway through the 3rd season of Reacher. Looking forward to Neagley. I read a comic called "Vault" on hoopla earlier. Scifi horror. Nice art.
