🎂 Happy Birthday, #NYCsubway! 📽️ Behold! The first-ever known footage of the subway, and we're sharing it today on the subway's 122nd birthday. #TodayInHistory: #OnThisDay in 1904, New York City’s first rapid transit subway, the IRT (Interborough Rapid Transit) opened.

Me, to myself: Is it fair to scold the cat for clawing the carpet, but allowing the same “making of biscuits” on a blanket? Are our rules confusing? Ten minutes later … the cat demonstrates he knows how to open a fully closed bifold door. Me: He’s not confused by anything.

Punters being famous for dramatic falls, this feels about right.

It's their final play to get ground floor investors an exit ramp. Two paths lie before us: (1) an enormous bubble pop, leading to great global suffering; or (2) a gradual retasking of AI as a utility for some sectors, but not for all, intended to run at a loss.

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

I had a class once read something that referenced this song. So I played them the song, and said: give your parents and grandparents a break. This was the quality of music at one time. It set a tone for the class. These chatbots and users are going to be the same (as it ever was) one day, too.

Not beating the accusations that the NBA treats the W like it's the Europa League. If the Dream come close to filling State Farm on Thursday at lunchtime with three days' notice it will be an amazing accomplishment

BREAKING: Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be held Thursday at 12:30pm ET at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne. It will be a double-header with the Atlanta Hawks’ game, which will be moved to 8pm.

Today i have edited two documents, cutting about 15 percent out of the life of them altogether. I have started an 8-week course. I have planned the better part of three of my next four lectures. I also gave an interview. Thus, I feel like I’ve earned my keep for the next few hours.

I would worry that, even if he sought — and obtained — permission of everyone so named, not everyone inclined to talk to a reporter would know that, understand, read beyond the inevitable headline traction a Woodward book earns. I would worry that this burns investigative reporters in the future.

There’s a public’s right to know argument to be made, for certain. The most important part being knowledge, with identities secondary. (Else, why keep them confidential these many years?) And, thus, this may come off as a cynical ploy just for easy book sales. Hopefully not, but I could see that.

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

Journalists should not say Lula won a “fair election.” Elections where the richest men on earth decide that they will censor or spread open disinformation about one of two candidates on their media platforms aren’t free or fair. Voting is one dimension of democracy, open information is another.

It was a still evening, and I realized I can still ride my bike a little if there aren’t headwinds. It was a weirdly perfect temperature. Every changing aspect — direction, road type, size of road, type of tree cover — meant it felt different. #bikes #cycling #LetsGoRideBikes #TheMilesAhead

Mostly I’m jealous I was never so good at something that the police were called. And I played on some good teams, too.

Playing soccer while black. I don’t know where this protege is, but I’d kick a ball with him anytime. I love how the cops are left with ‘If they don’t contact you, contact them.’ Not only is he too good, but the burden of remedy — he’s going to be playing 5U next week — is now on this family.

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.
