Recently I checked 35 CVs & letters. Only 2 applicants had not obviously used AI. These 2 plus those who researched the company made the interview shortlist. Two thirds didn't read the JD imo, desperation for work drives applicants to use AI poorly and using AI to help shortlist is a big mistake

rnz.co.nzApplicants 'ghosted' as AI floods job marketPeople applying for jobs are often being "ghosted" by companies hiring, and it may be partly due to the increased use of AI.

"AI can draft an essay for you, especially if you give it a high quality prompt." Really? This is what MIT thinks high schoolers should learn? MIT's "Day of AI" dayofai.org provides materials for K-12 teachers and claims to have reached over 5,000,000 students to date. 1/2

China’s first AI-generated theatrical film, ‘Sanxingdui: Future Past’, has bombed at their domestic box office, only making $121,000 USD against a budget of $1.5M USD. In contrast, the crudely animated ‘Niu Lai’ made nearly $10M USD against a budget of $200-500 USD.

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

Institutionalized democracy doesn't work with this level of bad faith!

Mae Nick Phra Khanong@nickjbrumfield.bsky.social

The fact is you simply can't design institutional safeguards against this kind of rampant bad faith You could pass 10 constitutional amendments, and they would just find another loophole The Constitution needs implicitly shared norms supporting it to work and it's just not there

When political scientists first raised concerns about this new restriction last year we were told we were being ‘alarmist’ to suggest tilting the playing field unfairly like this by one party can undermine the legitimacy of the election out come for all Kiwis in a tight race I’m still ‘alarmed’…

Last day! NZ National restricted general roll voting regulations for the first time in 40 yrs To reporters please don’t repeat spin- the change won’t speed up counting - And let’s not shrug & say just 2% fewer voters enrolled It’s 300,000 NZers prevented from voting That’s an entire NZ town

This is a great piece about the state of things. He describes the process as essentially AI brute forcing... everything. It's not necessarily smart, or even new, but the scale and volume of the thing is going to make all possible targets into viable targets. www.404media.co/php2shell-bl...

Anyway, what I'm saying is that we, as a society, ought to devote a considerable amount of effort to letting these dumbasses try

was just going through the logic of: okay there are directional thrusters for roll and yaw but how do you control that with a steering wheel -> maybe they got a full on piloting assist on there afterall Space has... -> lol

They'd better be flat and have their weight evenly distributed (no ac/deceleration!) when they take off or they'd have a split second to remember how to roll/tilt and calculate how long to fire thrust to compensate for oh wait where's the gyroscopic instruments on this thing

Now, they're capping use to $29 a month. Employees are stressed. @josephcox.bsky.social explains: www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ag...

Aside from the naked appeal to the cringest demons in us, and aside from the rivers of race/gender/status anxiety that run through the subtext, how dumb do you have to be to believe that you can outcompete your colleagues by using the same tools they have access to and asking it to "be more good"
