Kramatorsk. Van oudsher sprak de overgrote meerderheid Russisch. Nadat Rusland in April 2022 het station bombardeerde ,dat vol stond met mensen die wilden evacueren, heeft de stad vrijwel constant onder Russisch vuur gelegen. Nu was de kerk doelwit van de zoveelste Russische vorm van "bevrijding".

The MOEX floats around the 2075 points last couple of days. Strangely enough, no panic broke out after Putin signed a law that enables the russian government to confiscate any company it deems "critical" on the premise of "external threaths". So any company in the MOEX could be nationalised next day

In the end, russia has to lose. Putin will only stop when he has run out of options. His options will be severly reduced by an economic collapse. Precisely what the russian stock market seems to be doing.

Havent posted since a while about the 🇷🇺 stock exchange. Usually, an economy and the stock exchange are correlated. So a rising stock exchange usually means a growing economy and vice versa. Then, how to explain the extreme movements from lets say half june until today?

Since early june, the MOEX detoriated pretty fast. But then, from half july until 11 august, it was followed by a very fast rise. And since 11 august it is dropping quite fast again. Is there any logic to this, apart from "its the russian central bank stepping in".

Today the interest decision of the central russian bank... its going to be either euforia or despair on the MOEX. Due to the fuel shortages it might be an interest increase. That would probably trigger a huge selloff...

As expected, the MOEX is finding quite resistance at the 2000 barrier. Today the index fell below but hovered back to 10 points above it. I am suspecting option B: central bank intervenes.

ANOTHER red day at the MOEX. Currently close to 3% down. Three options, equally bad: - Let it slip further (and risk defaults and economic crisis); - Central bank intervenes and starts propping up stocks; - Halt all trading.

The absolute low since the invasion was on 03 october 2022. The MOEX collapsed to 1953 points but since then recovered to highest position in may 2024 at around 3500 points. Since then the trend has reversed and the MOEX has been sliding until 2190 today.

At the same time, the total expenses on defense & security have risen to 41% end 2025. If that trends continues, defense & security will increase to about 44% end 2028. So total expenditure on security, defense & interest will be, if the war continues until end 2028, 55% of total state expenditures.

Next post i will try to figure out what the other parts of the budget are, how this will translate into an extra need for borrowing and what the deficit then will be. And then try to predict at what time the markets will push the government into a default on their loans.

Interest payments are currently estimated to be 8.8% of the total budget expenditure in 2026. In 2027 and 2028 15% of the government debt will need to be forwarded. If the war continues, staying at current levels, this means the interest payments will rise to about 11% of total budget expenditure.

OTD in 1997 Ukraine & Russia signed the Russian–Ukrainian Friendship Treaty in which we promised to "respect each other's territory". A treaty in which Russia promises not to invade you is the traditional way we announce that we one day will. So you can believe us on a peace treaty now. Lol.
