In April, I questioned Secretary Hegseth about the Ecuadorian boat strikes & US involvement in them. The Secretary accused me of making false accusations. Today’s Washington Post article proves otherwise. I am demanding an immediate investigation into this program & his remarks misleading Congress.

Yesterday afternoon, I visited the Plymouth County Correctional Facility again. And I can tell you that this administration’s inhumane polities are doing nothing to strengthen our borders or communities. In fact, ICE’s illegal actions make all of us less safe, as we saw this week in Biddeford.

Congratulations and thank you to the Town of Yarmouth and all involved on such a meaningful observance of the 250th anniversary of the Town’s Declaration of Independence and recognition of the 447 men of Old Yarmouth who fought in the Revolution.

Over 160 years after emancipation on Juneteenth, Donald Trump and the GOP are doing everything in their power to rip away the freedoms that generations of courageous Americans have fought and died to preserve. I refuse to stand down, and together, we will continue to fight for a more perfect union.

Yesterday, the House passed via discharge petition the Ukraine Support Act. In the absence of House GOP action, House Democrats and a few brave Republicans reaffirmed their support for Ukraine. This bill includes billions in vital assistance to Ukraine and comprehensive anti-Russia sanctions.

President Trump's war of choice in Iran is costing Americans millions. Tonight, I voted yes with the majority of House Members to pass an Iran war powers resolution making clear my opposition to this war.   The House has spoken, and President Trump must end it.

Trump's deeply unpopular war in Iran has cost the American people billions. But instead of letting the House vote to end the war, Republicans canceled the vote. Speaker Johnson can't prolong the inevitable and it is time Republicans face up to the reality that this war must end.

As a friend who served with Barney Frank from the Massachusetts House to the United States House, I saw up close Barney's commitment to the needs of the most needy. His legislative style encompassed skill, intellect, and, most importantly, pragmatism. Full Stmt:

I am proud to lead the Ukraine Support Act with Reps. Meeks and Hoyer. The Discharge petition on this legislation now has 218 signatures and sends a strong message to President Trump and Speaker Johnson that the majority of the House supports the US fulfilling our promises to Ukraine.

Rihan is in a cell in Plymouth right now because his dad, Zia, was an interpreter for U.S. forces in Afghanistan. I met with Zia while he was in ICE custody himself last summer - he spoke with such pride about his kids. We will fight this. https://loom.ly/5qjnEnY

courant.comStraight-A CT student ‘brutally imprisoned’ by ICE, leaders say. His dad had helped US military.“The family followed all the rules and has done everything right. It’s the government that is not following its own rules,” said attorney Lauren Petersen.

The Speaker must reconvene Congress so we can hold hearings and cast votes to reign in this out of control President and his actions, his words, and his illegal war of choice. My full statement:

Yesterday I spoke in support of passing the ALERT Act - and in support of bringing the ROTOR Act back to the floor for a vote - so that we can stop reacting to tragic accidents and near-misses and instead prevent them from happening in the first place.

Today, I voted with Dems on the House Foreign Affairs Committee to subpoena Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner to testify on Iran and Ukraine. GOP voted no. House GOP must demand transparency, accountability, and public testimony from this administration. The American people deserve it.

The Trump administration cut State Dept funding to assist on investigating Putin’s war crimes, and just like Marco Rubio, the Undersecretary in charge of those cuts is refusing - under oath - to even say whether or not Putin is a war criminal.

I am disturbed, horrified, and unsurprised with this administration's continued, cruel attacks on science and global health. This is yet another example of the Trump administration playing politics with the health and well being of those who need help. It must stop.

A pleasure to see Taoiseach Micheál Martin on St. Patrick's Day to reaffirm the US-Ireland relationship.   The stories of Ireland and America are so often interlinked, and today is a reminder that we will always celebrate our enduring and long-lasting friendship.

Tonight, I voted with the majority of my colleagues to end Trump's tariffs on Canada, one of our closest allies. These tariffs are not only unpopular, they are hurting our economy & our alliances. I urge my Senate colleagues to take up the bill & send it to the President's desk.

Tariffs are raising costs on American families and hurting small businesses throughout our region and around the US. Now, instead of doing their jobs and working to lower costs for the American people, the GOP is trying to block a vote on ending these tariffs in a show of loyalty to Trump.

I got off our emergency House Dems virtual caucus meeting a little earlier, where I was grateful to hear from Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and Governor Tim Walz, two former House colleagues, about what they’re encountering in dealing with the administration’s lawlessness in Minneapolis.

Important steps are being taken by the AG’s office to preserve evidence and ensure justice for Alex Pretti, and we’ve already seen a court order to do just that thanks to AG Ellison’s quick action.

All eyes are now on the Senate as members face pending action on DHS appropriations. It’s not a hard choice - I made it last week - vote no. Don’t be complicit. I’m also encouraged by news that more and more colleagues are joining me in co-sponsoring articles of impeachment against Secretary Noem.

Watch the videos. Share them. Count the shots. It’s not easy to watch - and it shouldn’t be. But every American must understand what federal agents are doing in our names, and we must believe our eyes. My full statement in the image below (with alt text):

Today, I spoke on the phone with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola to discuss the transatlantic relationship, tariff threats, & bolstering shared security.   The EU is an indispensable ally, including in the Arctic, & the transatlantic alliance is stronger when we work together.

Yesterday, I met with Venezuelan Opposition Leader María Corina Machado. I thanked her for her leadership and courage and expressed my support with my bipartisan House Foreign Affairs colleagues for the democratic aspirations of the Venezuelan people.

Secretary Noem is stomping on the rules of our government and the very democratic ideals our country was founded on. She has proven herself repeatedly to be unfit for her job and should be held accountable.

I have watched as Secretary Noem lied under oath to my colleagues in hearings, and I have been angered by the absolute lack of response to inquiries about enforcement actions in our district, including a refusal to respond at all to questions surrounding a violent arrest in New Bedford.

And most recently, Secretary Noem is failing to appropriately investigate, at best, and at worst, actively covering up the murder of Renee Good.  This list is far from exhaustive during her disastrous first year as Secretary.

These three frames, synchronized with each gunshot by the Washington Post, show the ICE agent’s legs beside the car with each shot. The statements from Trump, Vance, and Noem contradict the facts. An independent investigation is essential to ensuring justice for Renee Good.

Ambassador of Denmark to the United States Jesper Møller Sørensen and the Head Representative of Greenland in the US Jacob Isbosethsen came to my office this afternoon for an emergency meeting to discuss Greenland and the importance of NATO. On Greenland, the message is clear: it's not for sale.
