I love The Offspring because what do you mean they put out a compilation album where everything is a lullaby version & called it Let The Bedtimes Roll

A little bit about work stuff: I am trying to deploy redis to a fairly vanilla k8s cluster and exploring "redis on flash" as an escape hatch for scaling woes. Configuring this "Auto tiering" without CRDs (and operator) or poking UI seems to be not possible. More. Intentionally obfuscated.

The implementation codename for "redis on flash" is BigRedis. Even discovering this was a half day effort. Searching for a couple of key settings `bigredis-path` and `bigredis-max-ram` comes up with exactly zero results in Google, Bing, GitHub, and SourceGraph.

It's difficult to believe that _nobody ever_ has publicly pasted their redis enterprise config files with the auto tiering feature turned on. Is Redis™ actively maintaining this as a trade secret? My mind is boggled.

Lately Spotify (via various voice assistants) is playing all manner of foreign language and live versions of Let it Go, instead of the One True soundtrack version. My daughter will not accept these impostors. Tears ensue.

If you're curious as to how they got this footage from so close to the eye of the hurricane, the woman who got this into my timeline also wrote a fantastic feature on Saildrones.

NOAA/AOML posted this video taken by a Saildrone 40 nautical miles from the center of Hurricane Milton. They reported wave height of 28 feet (8.5 m) and wind gusts as strong as 76 mph (34 m/s). 🌊

I love this. Instead of improvising additional verses when singing to my kid, I can summon the deep lore.

Here's the first-ever appearance of “Twinkle, twinkle little star”, as the opening verse of “The Star” by poet/novelist Jane Taylor in 1806. Often sung to the tune of 18C French melody “Ah! vous dirai-je, Maman” (also the basis for Baa Baa Black Sheep) bl.uk/collection-i...
