I know dunking on the "don't know how to make a gir c*m" line is funny. But we lose sight of what they really try to go for here: that the comms director said that she hates men.

Ty Schalter@tyschalter.com

the washington free beacon is trying to october surprise abdul by revealing his comms chief used to post bangers

...and just to be clear, that is... Less than nothing. An "underreported old X post" (fuck this newspeek, it's a TWEET you dolts) is... There is nothing AT ALL to report here. AT. ALL.

The problem is that even without AI the labor market and hiring trends move SO FUCKING FAST most of the time that any advice one might have form recently nailing down a job will be hopelessly outdated a year later.

To say nothing about how different fields handle things. I was told to ask for informational interviews with people doing the work I wanted to do. And when doing so in publication and editing either I got NO replies at all, or "uhm, HR is over there, leave me alone."

My last job hunt that ended with me getting the job I have now was like all my job hunts: I sent out hundres of applications. And eventually got a job through someone I know personally that I had not sent anything to beforehand. I got lucky each time. And that's not something I can pass on as advice

Uh. Here's a thought: we need to brace for Musk going Full Hitler when he starts to believe that our civilization has failed him, and is beyond saving and needs to be destroyed by any means necessary. I'm almost certain that moment will come.

Oliver Willis@owillis.bsky.social

“Racist billionaire Elon Musk appears to believe that dumping nearly half a billion dollars into weird, bigoted campaign ads is the equivalent of saving a civilization.” www.dailykos.com/stories/2026...

Just to be clear, I am not sure he has what it takes. Like most of these dipshits he talks big but is too incompetent. But given the nigh-divine powers his misbegotten, vast fortune bestows on him, he doesn't NEED competence to wreak havoc in the ATTEMPT to destroy things.

The real problem is that he has NOT FAILED. His fascist program has not fully consolidated power. But what most people read as failing the American people is a SOUNDING SUCESS of the project to enrich himself and his cronies at everyone's expends. Trumpism works mostly as intended.

In fact I will say the Earnest and Pious Charismatic Ethnic Minority political figure (AOC, Mamdani, El-Sayed) has been a pretty good bet for the American left so far, whereas the Disaffected Gruff White Guy Showcasing True Masculinity (Fetterman, Platner) has been a worse bet. Just an observation.

Yeah start insinuating he has morning chai rather than coffee, say that he knocks things for 6 rather than hits a home run, allege that he is generally a clean living good boy who loves his mother and prays every Friday (pejorative).

I’m seeing people reacting by pointing out that he’s obviously wrong. I appreciate that, but it’s also a pointless exercise. The problem isn’t that he’s wrong. The problem is that this is normal in American politics — and it’s been normal for a while.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

the handful of die-hard anti-trans voters that exist are going to vote GOP no matter what. so this ad will not pick up a single new voter. all it does is further disenfranchise trans ppl – a marginalized group MAGA hates. this is a pro-MAGA ad & Turek is furthering MAGA's cause by airing it

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

I don’t know, man, I’m kind of sick of treating Trump and his cronies like they’re just absurd and laughable and not really spending any time talking about the murders, the concentration camps, the millions starved around the world, people living lives beset with threats of violence and erasure.

By my napkin math, total Bell Labs research expenditures from 1930-1980 were on the order of $50 billion in 2026 dollars. AI companies have spent ~$1 trillion so far: The equivalent of ~20 Bell Labs histories. In its history, Bell Labs researchers discovered the transistor, the solar cell, the laser

Funny thought experiment: Tech monopolies have spent about $1 trillion on AI development so far. How good of a chatbot could we have built for $1 trillion by just employing smart people to answer any question people might reasonably ask and collecting all the answers in a big lookup table?

NEW: Elon Musk gave his super PAC $76 million in just two weeks of October, and more than half of its new candidate spending went to one race: the Texas Senate fight against James Talarico. He’s now given more than $445 million this cycle, far more than he spent electing Trump.

Sorry still thinking of $1,200-$1,800 dollar console just conceptually. Those are Real Computer numbers. You can just get a real computer for that kinda cash. The entire premise of the console is “this is a baby computer you don’t control but it’s standardized and affordable” but they can’t do that.

Is there anything this man HATES more with every fiber of his being than a woman in power he can't control...?

Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"
