Lots of ratio work in #MathsToday, my trusty models have gone down well. Plus, Core Maths students have really got the knack of taxation. Love to nerd out on my former life as an accountant

In #MathsToday, Year 13 did a new Mathematical Gettier Question linking to Differential Equations (and then we started looking at Integrating Factors).

In #MathsToday, I did some Mathematical Gettier Questions with Y8 and Y13. Mathematical Gettier Questions are tasks that explore how incorrect methods sometimes give correct answers. Explained in more detail here: interwovenmaths.com/mathematical... What ideas can you think of for similar tasks?

Was very nice to hear a new Year 8 student say they finally get bus stop now! Gets rid of the cognitive load of 3 mini processes in their head at once.

#MathsToday Trying this out with some of my weaker groups for those who can't abstract the remainders for bus stop. I know someone somewhere will have given this a name but for now I'm calling it Medium Division 😂

#Mathstoday Year 10 looked at Surface Area today. Made them all draw the faces to make sure they include them all. Tried a harder question at the end, it seems like they do need a bit more practice on applying the skills.

I am teaching #MathsToday to year 12 psychology students for the research methods section. Cross curricular stuff is important but we don't have time to find out so I forced my hand by signing up to this.

For teachers: Agree or disagree? There is currently a shortfall in high-quality maths enrichment. Aside from the usual competitions, out-of-classroom experiences and/or engaging speakers are hard to find. What enrichment is actually working for your school? #UKMathsChat #MathsToday

After 20 years in #maths #education I thought I knew everything there was to know about #fractions. That is until a video crossed my path with a beautifully simple result. Read my latest (relatively short) blog post to find out what the result was: educatingmrmattock.blogspot.com/2026/06/an-a...
