Last one for tonight! This is Cho, a member of the Ocean Bay Cabal in our Mage game! The prompt was "Tiny" but it's a stretch... Ah well. I'm still pretty happy with it. #inktober #magetheawakening #characterdesign

Final week for the TTRPG Collective bundle! This is a great group of folks who gathered up a very cool set of games (and a comic!) covering such a wide variety of forms and themes. It's absolutely worth checking out what a community can support. itch.io/b/3934/ttrpg...

My first five ttrpgs in order: 1. Vampire the Masquerade 2. Mage the Ascension 3. Werewolf the Apocalypse 4. Changeling the Dreaming 5. Exalted (And some more to go beyond WW) 6. Polaris 7. Fiasco 8. Microscope And from there it gets impossible to say what was next.

Aaron King@aaronmfking.bsky.social

1. Black Box D&D 2. middle school friend's homebrewed WWII game where I killed Hitler 3. Cyberpunk 2020 4. Ultima Online roleplay forums 5. D&D 4E

This may be the most 90s-ass classic World of Darkness villain I've ever put into a game I've run. I love my evil boy. Also, this art of him is just incredible, damn.

Next prompt is "Stitches" so I just had to draw our Mage games villain, the aptly named "Stitchface." I'd tell you more but in and out of character I'm still figuring him out... #inktober #magetheawakening #characterdesign #wod

My friends reminded me that I have this account and should post my Inktober sketches here! Day 1 my prompt was "Scatter." This year I really wanted to focus on character development and style...This came from the idea of a goat companion with candles on its horns, and I went from there. #inktober

Please ignore the MTL release of Meremanoid that came out today. We have had a hearty band at work (Chapu, Popi, Mr. Nobody, Misty, Shentok and I) working hard on an all-human patch. Fully playable in English, in it final editing pass now. Popi provided these screencaps today. More news later.

So, "Schrödinger no neko" isn't up your alley? How about a fully 3D JRPG about an amnesiac siren? This is "Shinkai densetsu Meremanoid". Already hacked the thing, got a half-width font, script dumped, the whole kit and caboodle. Ping me if you know Japanese and want to translate it!

Some amazing little finds in this bundle. So far, my group have played as slimes, dragon spirits and dinosaur zoo keepers and there’s still another 45 to try! So proud of the #TTRPG Collective Community for putting this together. itch.io/b/3934/ttrpg...

Just realized I am absolutely using replies wrong to try to keep tacking things onto a thread. So, here's a sub-thread (is that even a thing?) of a cool SRD in the TTRPG Collective Bundle ( itch.io/b/3934/ttrpg... ). #ttrpg

One more for the moment - Line in the Sand: lithuasil.itch.io/lits This isn't actually a #ttrpg proper, but more of an SRD that outlines a tactical combat setup that brings the best parts of grid-based combat without fiddling with a grid, and terrain, and templates, and etc.

The system reminds me a lot of combat in Sword World or Dracurouge, but expanded up on so you can have some additional granularity (and as a result - more tactical choices.

If you want more details, you play as a cute family of slimes that has been upgraded by a magical object in your cave. Some adventures, as they are wont to do, have come and stolen it. Without it, you'll be turned back into regular boring slimes.

It's very board-gamey, and I mean that in the best way - it handles the mechanics, but in ttrpg fashion, it adds a ton of flavour so you can lean into the cute concept. This is a perfect off-night option when someone is missing (and you want them to be jealous of the fun you had).

Taking a genre seriously and just having a good time with that (instead of winking every time you do anything that genre is known for) makes for such incredible and enjoyable stories.

For #FollowFriday (is that still a thing?), it would be super awesome if you went to this bundle page, opened contributor's profiles, and gave them follows. If you get the bundle too, that'd be amazing, but putting indie creators on your radar is so immensely helpful. #ttrpg itch.io/b/3934/ttrpg...

Some days I look at the things I make and think, "wow, this is pretty slick. I'm pleased with how it turned out." And then other days (today, obviously, hence this post), I think over my ttrpg ideas and think, "wow, you thought this was exciting?" Woof.

And maybe they're not perfect. And maybe some are a bit crap. And maybe all of them are more derivative than I'd like. But they are mine, and that alone makes them kick ass, and I will continue to create, because it's a damn joy to do so. Okay, funk over. Now I'm hype to work once more.

As a post script: if you're reading this, and are feeling like what you're making isn't amazing, and won't sell like hotcakes... screw that. It's going to be awesome anyways, even if no one else recognizes it. So make stuff. And put it out there. Fuck AI slop. Make something weird and yours.

But, heck, just because I can't make every idea work, or don't love the things I've made every moment, I'm not going to stop. The whole reason I started making ttrpgs was to make the games that I want to play, the games that won't exist unless I make them.

I just recently watched Nightbreed for the first time, and just... oh wow. That movie did things to my brain I was not expecting. I'm not really sure how I avoided it for so long, and I'm not sure if I'm sad I did, or if I'm ecstatic I finally saw it when my brain was ready for it.

It got me thinking about splatterpunk (which is a little of a stretch, but fits) and transgressive fiction, and made me think heavily about the injection of uncomfortable topics into games as a way to ponder on and digest them.

I've been putting posts on here thinking up how to convert Drakengard into a ttrpg, and I now realize I was subconsciously shying away from some of the most powerful elements of that game's story. I'll be slowly digging into those, and making sure they're not just present, but central.

The movie has some powerful found family + outsider/other + weird morality energy floating around that I really loved. The first #ttrpg I ever played was Vampire the Masquerade, and it's so easy to see some of the concepts that were ported from that film directly in.
