Re previous-new-MST3K: Earlier this year it was said the Gizmoplex apps would stop working in summer with the content no longer available to access after September 30... but at least so far the Fire TV app is still working for me. Browsing is bad, but I can search for things and play them still.

Tried making some non-meat burgers. Not too difficult and the taste was OK, but next time I'll have to do better on them holding together. Also lost a lot of liquid weight while cooking, so they ended up a bit smaller than anticipated.

A lot of people acting angry about this, but he basically says "If you're serving a niche audience, budget appropriately or be survived by those who do", which seems like pretty common sense as long as we're stuck with capitalism. Many successful smaller companies operate within such parameters.

Tim Sweeny's comment on the closure of Looking Glass Studios.

Tried to make a lower calorie peanut butter blossom recipe, but some of my changes unintentionally combined to make it more like a springy bread than a cookie. Back to the drawing board. The Halloween alternative to a Hershey's Kiss worked well, though.

Appreciate the explicit 1:64. It's important to know how the size of these compare to the real world Kamek and Bowser's Castle.

Some of the advice I see for Ninja Creami recipes is easy to ignore. Like, no, I'm not paying four times as much for an ultra-filtered milk so I can add the same amount of protein I'd get from eating several beans.

Xbox Elite controllers are expensive, but the ease of replacing worn out thumbsticks (or swapping d-pads) is nice. I wonder if MS has a patent on the design, because the only example of a different controller using the same parts I can find is someone who mods things like ROG Ally to use them.

My latest attempt at a healthier brownie was the best result yet, but also the one I'm least likely to reveal the big ingredient to before people actually try it. Beans as the main replacement for butter just sounds weird.

In paying more attention to calories and other nutrition info, something to keep in mind is there are many levels of good and bad. Like, a frozen lasagna isn't exactly a health food. But compare a frozen pizza to the same amount of volume from that lasagna and the lasagna SEEMS like a health food.

Watched the anime Astra Lost in Space. From pretty early on the structure of mysteries and different character backstory reveals in different episodes reminded me of Lost. Unlike Lost, though, the whole series is under 6 hours so they didn't waste time writing checks for mysteries they couldn't cash

So I've just learned "abracada" is a Spanish word for "hug". Does this mean Steve Miller's really stretched rhyme of "Abracadabra" with "reach out and grab ya" actually had some meaning behind it, or just stupid coincidence?

New MST3K is good, but I wish there were more host segments. Taking a break from the movie with a weird little skit is one of the big things the MST3K format allows versus standard RiffTrax. And if you're making Kevin wear monkey prosthetics, might as well get plenty of footage of it!

Free upgrade, but only for several months? Seems like kind of a dick move.

the tech industry is about to invent books

Mixed grape drink packet with box of vanilla pudding. Wanted to try orange/Tang-type, but didn't have any. Result tasted decent, but looked kind of ugly with the purple blunted by all the whiteness.

Funny how the right is always griping about how the left is running on promises of too much free stuff, but this is the sort of thing they're trying to lessen midterm losses.

The "plagiarism machine" dig at AI doesn't do much for me. They learn by consuming what other humans have done... but that's also how every human learns. Nobody yearns to read books written by somebody who's never read a book or watched a movie or generally interacted with anyone in any way.

Had some more PC issues today, and I think it's due to my Windows drive running hotter than it should. Nothing's changed inside for a long time, wonder if it's been creeping up until it started hitting a noticeable threshold. For the moment using a fan control program to crank the fans up is helping

If Home Alone 2 had ended slightly differently, it could've been the basis for a pretty interesting episode of Law & Order. Given the barely recognizable state of the bandits' remains, does self-defense remain a valid legal defense?

For the past few days my PC won't boot, and neither would bootable USBs work. Or so I thought. Doing more phone searches after the latest failure, I eventually saw a brief "loading files" and then about 8 minutes more the USB environment appeared.
