As an American, it breaks my heart to see this, but I can completely understand because I feel the same way. Our comportment on the world stage - and domestically - has been shameful.
The US is still important and powerful, of course, but I no longer see it as this unique actor we're tethered to through history and culture and shared experience. It's just another big, oftentimes adversarial power we need to manage. America is becoming more normal, in a way. It's sad
We should have stopped at Vine.

Escape from New York, the glider scene. It's '81, a year before Tron revolutionised CG and Carpenter has 1/3 of Tron's budget...so how did he pull off an absurdly sophisticated wireframe simulation?! It's actually a cardboard city painted matte black, lined with reflective tape and lit with UV.
We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

Unless he enters the war on the side of Russia, which he will. And a feckless congress will allow him. This administration must be removed from power and its participants imprisoned.
This is almost certainly a Putin scheme to get Trump to further pressure Ukraine to stop its highly successful strikes on Russian refineries. But Trump has few cards to play on Putin's behalf. Having abandoned Ukraine, he has little leverage over Ukraine. bsky.app/profile/atru...
This was a decent, if a little obsequious, piece on Mark Zuckerberg. That is, until the coda, wherein it goes full state media facebook apologia. Wtf?
This would, unironically, be great, but we need a higher trust and cohesion society to make unattended commerce work. We are, on average, a pack of selfish cowboys.
We really need to get Japanese vending machines over here man. American vending machines suck so bad. I need like one of these on every street corner.
