Every product has obvious flaws that make you wonder "How could they not fix this‽" But there's always a reason. Sometimes a good reason and sometimes a bad reason. I've learned to reserve judgement because there's often an interesting technical or organizational story behind them.

Just tuned in and heard @pfrazee.com mention that now when you change your <handle>.bsky.social to a custom domain handle it will reserve your old .bsky.social handle for you! This is one of those features that slipped through the cracks for way too long. Glad the team finally got to it! 🙏🙏🙏

This thing here is pure gold

There have been some good posts on what "wide events" instrumentation is but not as many on how to go about it, what attributes you should add, or how to work with OpenTelemetry I put everything I've learned in the last few years into one guide jeremymorrell.dev/blog/a-pract...

I’ve worked with Flask the past few years and I’m maybe a bit disconnected but the thing is I don’t hear as much noise from Django community as for example rails. Django is so awesome I fail to see why people don’t engage as much

Just finished reading buttondown.com/carlton/arch... and I couldn't agree more with @carltongibson.bsky.social. His analysis and reasoning are spot on. I'd love to hear ideas on how we can improve the 'social' aspect of raising awareness for Django 3rd party apps.

buttondown.comThoughts on Django’s CoreTo tie-in with the upcoming elections for Django's Steering Council, I wanted to think again about Django's Core, let's call it Batteries Included Revisited....

It's done. Now it’s your turn, Oracle. We’ve submitted a formal petition to cancel the JavaScript trademark: it is generic, Oracle has abandoned it, and Oracle committed fraud on the USPTO during the last trademark renewal. It's time to #FreeJavaScript. deno.com/blog/deno-v-...

deno.comDeno v. Oracle: Canceling the JavaScript TrademarkOracle is holding the JavaScript trademark hostage, and we’re pursuing legal means to #FreeJavaScript. Here’s a brief update.

Spent the weekend developing an app in Java with SpringBoot and some basic html and plain Javascript. It was years ago last time I did something in Java (and it was in college) and I'm surprised about how cool the experience has been. Will keep digging for sure. #java #springboot #javascript

Programming languages are tools. You should pick the tool most suitable to the task. The two have different syntax. Different isn't inherently bad, different is simply different. I get the sense that most of the slams against JavaScript were written by people who only know Python syntax.

You are up to date.
