Struck up a conversation with an elder gay and I kept thinking it was such a privilege bc they don’t make them like this anymore. Like, the old-timey kind who luxuriates in his camp. A soft, slow speaker who was yet theatrical and punctuating his conversation with vocal and gestural flourishes.

Caught up with an acquaintance who was gone for months in Texas because his first grandchild. Turns out he had a heart attack while there but didn’t experience any of the “classic” symptoms and long story short got 5(!) stents.

Point of this is to say he looks and sounds 20 years younger (and 40 lbs lighter). I am so begagged and begogged, my flabbers are gasted, etc etc. He legit turned back time and is a new man 😳👍

the way alexander likes the lights in the house it's like a goddamn hollister store. (i showed him a video of what one looked like -- and the absurdity of it all -- but he remains steadfast)

At airport, volunteering, and a lady comes up to me trying to get her WhatsApp to work: “Hi, I haven’t got a smartphone, just an Android…” (maybe Androids aren’t considered smartphones in England?) (At least it’s not a blackberry! [inside joke, don’t come at me android and blackberry folks!])

i think the nostalgia has been hitting hard lately. listening to Toad The West Sprocket's "fear" album (of Walk on the Ocean and All I Want fame) and phew, i'm getting verklempt.

also i'm actually not hating that it's 35 years old; been owning my age lately. sad to have missed my 30(+1) year HS reunion last weekend due to a planned work trip that fell through. got some pictures and updates, and planning to go down to LA to visit HS friends in January to make up for it.

Picture it: lakefront plaza underneath stately conifers, everyone carrying giant perfect bouquets on a chilly fall day talking about grass-fed butter

i saw a recent video thumbnail on my youtube feed for "Why NOBODY Remembers Northwest Airlines!" and i just want to say *i* do. took my first "i'm an adult and can travel without my parents" trip with them back in 2000. (the trip that explains why i will always call the O2 "the millennium dome")

fwiw even though i never fly them (for whatever reason including 'they no longer exist'), certain airlines hold a special place in my heart: Northwest: my first "adult" trip American: when i moved to Germany Etihad: Nepal earthquake

i just want to express my concern that two people i met last week (in their 20s/30s) -- ENGLISH PEOPLE, FROM ENGLAND LIVING IN ENGLAND -- had never heard of Keeping Up Appearances.

am i the only one who loves these super random Strange New Worlds episodes? like this soap opera one (so far) Is GREAT -- i love it!!

while back i got a kodak charmera but never used it until this past trip. i guess it was pretty fun? not sure how i feel about ThE AeSTheTiC but it was a nice substitute for a film camera as a second thing to play with. mclassplanet.tumblr.com (yes i am repurposing a tumblr url i've had for ages)

DYING listening to these two flight attendants talking (they are clearly besties). Just a small excerpt: Him: “do you remember that nice guy who gave us cookies? That Asian guy?” Her: “yeah?” Him: “well, I…uhh…thanked him for his loyalty and now he’s living in my DMs” Ok Blanche!

omg my mom just voice called me (not facetime not whatsapp) and i thought the worst* but all she wanted to know was how to change her apple id password 😭😭😭 *my heart is still racing

Saw a poster for a musician/band called “Woe Nelly” and IDK who they are but I hope they are a gay singer-songwriter 😂

me: oh maybe i'll go a day early to london before i have to be there for work. *does some interneting, checks hotel prices* me: never mind

Two things I’m unironically grateful to YouTube for: 1) reliving the glory days of MTV whenever I want 2) letting me see the world in ways I never would (because I know myself): 3-week canyoneering trip through the Grand Canyon or climbing to a peak in the Alps.

i'm not saying i'm the most knowledgeable person about travel destinations on the planet but you think i would have heard about Magaluf and Benidorm before this past year (thanks to stuff that I see via The Algorithm)

i saw a payphone in someone's yard and so TIL about Futel. how nifty! "Futel is a public arts organization in Portland, Oregon dedicated to preserving and maintaining public telephone hardware and offering free phone and basic information services." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futel

Streaming a French movie and the only language available is the English dub 😫 Not only that but the (English) subtitles say “[speaking French]” when it’s clearly Arabic 😫 😫

shipped something cheapest ground ("Ground Advantage") via USPS and there's no way this could actually have been (all) ground, right? Arrived at USPS Facility PORTLAND, OR 97215 August 12, 2026 10:58 PM ⏬ Arrived at USPS Facility DULLES VA DISTRIBUTION CENTER August 14, 2026 12:51 AM

was just reminded of one of my favorite scenes in TNG: GUINAN: Careful. Putting me on a pedestal so high, you may not be able to reach me. RIKER: Then I'll learn how to fly. You are the heart in my day and the soul in my night. WESLEY: I don't think this is my style. GUINAN: Shut up, kid.

Public service announcement: if you are checking bags, please note the baggage cutoff time. At our airport, smaller airlines will not even keep the ticket counter open past the cutoff.
