i just reached my home town. I’m breathing fumes in and fumes out. ashes are falling out of the sky. the only thing i’m feeling is rage, against policymakers, and against myself for not doing just a bit more with my time and energy. it’s time to transform this rage into action.

waiting for my plane to come back home. my home is hell right now. seeing the list of cities being evacuated due to the wildfires. thinking about how to best help tomorrow.

also thinking about how to raise my 3yo daughter in a insufferable world on the verge of biological collapse alternating droughts, heatwaves and wildfires because the pursuit of wealth of a few is more valued than the safety of the many.

One of my 2026 resolutions was to add A FEW plants to my home and learn A BIT about that new hobby. I failed.

My AC has different target when the room is occupied or not. Then the room is empty the AC only start above 30°C When the AC starts, my ceiling light swings constantly It trips my presence sensor It sets to room to occupied The AC never stops I had to add weights to my lights 😅

This is what I’m doing when I’m not working hard to make homes smarter. It’s a pretty cool hobby. Lots of problem solving.

I have a confession to make: I struggle counting on my fingers. Also I never understood the UX of setting a delayed end on a washing machine. So anyway, I made a washing machine companion that pulls the next off-peak period at home and tells me what to do using @home-assistant.io

Who would be interested in a walkthrough of how I created reminders that get triggered at certain times, but also when I arrive or leave home?

I like to do these small tests internally but let’s try here too ☺️
Here is a small part of my dashboard.
What info can you tell me based on these 3 cards?
BTW: the names of the cards are “first floor”, “second floor” and “garden”

Anyone heavily tattooed using an Apple Watch? I’m just starting to use one and in the first hour of use I had to enter my passcode about 60 times. I’m guessing the watch struggles to recognize tattoos.

Yesterday during my bouldering session: “Hey you look super focused, what are you listening to?” What do you mean what I’m listening, it’s bouldering, there is only one good answer… Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse OST 🤣

What’s the “thing” (automation, dashboard, card, voice command, anything) in your @home-assistant.io that has the highest value to effort ratio? Something immediately useful but dead simple to create and maintain.

Me when I think about adding 17 presence sensors and 19 Bluetooth proxies to receive a notification when the garbage truck lifts my bin

You are up to date.
