Jean-Loup R Smith

Hello #PortfolioDay I'm Jean-Loup, a composer from Scotland keen to find people to collaborate with and write music for. I wrote music for theatre, AV video presentations and for small family events. I'm currently working on an EDM album For my full portfolio see www.jlarts.scot #MusicSky

It's and interesting game that the Toei corp. is playing with Dragon Ball. First a #Lego set with the promise of more to come and now a collaboration with #Ibanez guitars. I'm intrigued what else they have up their sleeve... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Riaz...

#StreetFighter was very fun and far more in line with the game compared to the campy 1994 JCVD version. But... Can anyone explain how Ken and Ryu can karaoke to 4 Non Blondes "What's up" in 1987 when the song didn't come out until March 1993 (the year the movie is set)?

I'm really enjoying the first 2 episodes of #Visionquest , some cheeky takes on AI in there but can anyone tell me where in Edinburgh that pub is supposed to be? Didn't look like anywhere I recognised unlike Waverley station and Cockburn St in #InfinityWar 🤔

Well shit... 😢 I don't read much crime but I've immensely enjoyed his books

40 years ago today one of the most talented and influential bass players in the history of rock and metal was lost in a stupid bus accident. Cliff Burton, lost but never forgotten and his influence in @metallica.com is still felt to this day 🤘

Just finished listening to The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance by @chiarab.bsky.social and I absolutely adored it. It's such a lovely story inspired by Scottish folklore and full of diverse characters and you don't even need a map to follow along 😊 Heartily recommended ⛰️🐉🏨

These 3 legendary albums were released 35 years ago today if you can believe it. What's your favourite song on these? #NoMoreTears #UseYourIllusionI #UseYourIllusionII #OzzyOsbourne #GunsNRoses

Some upcoming albums to look forward to: #Anthrax - Cursum Perficio 18/09/26 #Satchvai - The Sea Of Emotion 06/11/26 #Firewind - Gods Myths and Titans 19/02/27 🤘

Excited by the upcoming #Firewind album "Gods, Myths and Titans" coming out on the 19th of February next year www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-sC...

I struggle to play songs from Master of Puppets because my fingers get tangled up in strings... Isn't it Ironic? Don't you think?

Jeebus... Dolly Parton, Tim Curry and now Peter Cullen? This week has been a massacre and it's only Thursday 😢

Oh it's been a minute since we've had an X-Files comic book series. While I'm indifferent to the Coogler reboot, this is far more exciting www.thepopverse.com/comics-the-x...

Difficult to take decent pictures of an #eclipse when the clouds keep spoiling the show but it could have been worse, this is Scotland after all.

Really enjoyed Nolan's The Odyssey despite a few omissions which are memorable in the original story (like Nobody) but for the love of Athena can someone please teach these actors to shoot a bow and arrows properly?

I wonder who cleans up all the webs left all over New York City from #Spiderman swinging around. Given how tough this stuff is, it can't be that easy to remove meaning the city would slowly turn into a dusty attic. Brand New Day was great though, recommended 🕸️🤟

This jazz version of Master of Puppets is a true masterpiece. I especially recommend you pay attention to Earl, the violinist. His playing is next level! #metallica youtu.be/EIouvSWaFgM?...

This is interesting, Jean-Michel Jarre is releasing a book on the history of electronic music in November. This should be an interesting read www.musicradar.com/artists/trac...

I've been waiting quite a long time for this to finally come out youtu.be/fxNh27fRdYA?... #Avengers #Doomsday #MarvelStudios

I played with the sunset a wee bit last night as our ferry was docking. Pretty impressed with the results #photography #mobilephotography #sunset

I am really quite intrigued by the new #Reactor amps from #PositiveGrid. This is a truly useful way to integrate machine learning into making music making tools more personalised and varied in a way that seems rather effortless. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ClC...

"Trusted"?? Really Fender? After all the shenanigans you've pulled recently you still expect to be a trusted brand? You gotta have to take a hard good look at yourself for a reality check

Not sure how 10 bands or artists says anything about me but here goes in no particular order: 1. Metallica 2. Megadeth 3. Joe Satriani 4. Steve Vai 5. Nightwish 6. Yngwie Malmsteen 7. Lordi 8. Mr Big 9. Värttinä 10. Slash

New #Anthrax song dropped from their long awaited new album. Charlie Benante is on fire on this one 🔥🔥🔥 (to be fair they all are) youtu.be/Pj5u8OagODo?...

Mortal Kombat II is bloody good fun.

Best cameo? The #taiko drums around the ring www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xt4X...

So Iron Maiden are finally getting inducted in the Rock n'Roll hall of fame. I guess better late than never. But man talk about overdue given how long they've been legends... www.loudersound.com/music-indust...

Can you help my friend Soňa reach her target goal raising funds for a very worthy cause? #fundraising #mermaids www.justgiving.com/page/sona-vy...

That's pretty interesting news on this #Tolkien reading day. Stephen Colbert and his son Peter McGhee will write the next Lord of the Rings movie after Hunt for Gollum based on the events between Buckleberry Ferry and Bree. Scouring of the Shire next? variety.com/2026/film/ne...

This is a fun song, and boy do we need as much fun stuff as we can get nowadays. I've not voted in the #Eurovision for a long time but I think I may give points to Britain this year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XR2... #lookmumnocomputer #eurovision2026

#Orion forever!

Rush is coming to Glasgow. 8th of March 2027. Let's Goooooo! youtu.be/g_SWRSUHfLI?... www.rush.com/tour/fifty-s...

Every now and then a new #metal band emerges that truly blows me away. Some have been around a while others less so. This week I discovered #Tailgunner (Yes named after the Iron Maiden song), a truly refreshing young band with a classic sound, Highly recommended www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnsT...

I'm glad to hear the site of the old Royal High School in Edinburgh won't be turned into a hotel but into the National Centre for Music, opening 2028. I'm curious to see how it'll bring more music to the city. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2580238...

That's pretty shocking news, Native Instruments, one of the largest companies in music making software, is in preliminary insolvency. This will have some serious ramifications for both users and employees cdm.link/ni-insolvency/

The highly anticipated version of Ride the Lightning by #Megadeth is here and it's surprisingly close to the original. I expected Dave to put some twist on it. You can tell Teemu isn't challenged enough though 🤘 youtu.be/TBV8_0BqIw8?...

A few years ago I did a daily writing exercise where you just write what a single word inspires you. Re-reading it today some of this stuff is pretty deep. I'm not sure if I should publish it or resume doing it or both. I don't even recall where this exercise came from

Watching the induction of #Rush in the Rock n' Roll hall of fame feels so bittersweet. On stage there's Neil Peart and Taylor Hawkins and Chris Cornell, all of them now gone... www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJK0...

"The X-Men will return in Avengers Doomsday" I wonder if these weekly teasers will lead to an actual trailer some time soon youtu.be/kH1XlwHQv9o?...

Happy new year to all. May you find the will to be the best person you can be for yourself and those you love 🥳

Second teaser (which was also leaked though this one wasn't shown before Avatar 3) for #Avengers #Doomsday just dropped featuring #Thor I wonder if they'll do one for each character. I heard the third teaser features the X-Men youtu.be/1clWprLC5Ak?...

Strongly starting to suspect I have a mild-ish case of Raynaud's disease judging by how easily my fingers get cold in not so low temperatures. This on top of everything else, sucks to get old y'all...

Went to see #Avatar Fire and Ash tonight. The visuals are stunning as in all Avatar movies but the plot was very similar to Way of Water and it could have been a tad shorter. Still it was enjoyable, I was particularly impressed by the sound design for the Tulkun.

Ice hockey matches here in Finland are quite a lot different from the Scottish league back home...

When I first saw the #aurora in Lapland in 98 I only had an old point&shoot film camera, it could capture nothing. Now my phone is the point&shoot and takes rather amazing photos. I'm so grateful this is possible. #photography #Finland

I kinda wish Marvel had a better handle on people leaking stuff. Even being as careful as you could, you couldn't avoid the reveal of this teaser being spoiled. Makes this quite less impactful than it ought to be youtu.be/UiMg566PREA?... #avengers #doomsday

Hyvää Itsenäisyyspäivää

I'd never seen this interview of Gillian Anderson before from 1995 when #TheXFiles was into its 3rd season. Great find www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLs-...

I'd share this yearly Spotify stats thing but the majority of the music I listen to is on CD and Vinyl so no stats for those ... Also I don't use Spotify I will tell you Rush has been quite popular on my stereo system this year though.

That cancelled TV show you'll never stop thinking about Project Blue Book (And yes also Willow)
