And yes, the opening page of this story arc that depicts the ending of The Tower of the Elephant is a deep bow to the legendary Barry Windsor-Smith:

Our next arc, starting in late November, is called Pacts & Prophecies. A younger and more brash Conan, fresh from his caper in the Tower of the Elephant, tries to navigate newfound infamy in a city where everyone works an angle.

working hard as letters to the vampire queen entered the race to the final stretch goal, the one that adds last 5 additional illustrations and a free audiobook narrated by Autumn Ivy to go with every book 9 days to go. we'll see if we can reach this! fingers crossed!

Gutted to hear that voice actor Eric Bauza passed away. I met him a few times at conventions and animation events and he was _always_ energized, gracious, and a proud Canadian. Wishing his family and fans comfort today.

Unbelievable loss. An amazing talent, and just a really, really good person. www.instagram.com/p/De8RFy4pyov/

That photo is from San Diego Comic Con 2022. Troy Little and I ran into Eric at the Omni after the post-post Eisner Awards party. 3:30am and he was happy to chat and laugh, especially after he realized we were fellow Canadians.

ON SALE THIS WEEK FROM TITAN COMICS! Conan the Barbarian #36 Conan and Valeria are pirates of the Red Brotherhood, living a life of lawless adventure on the Western Sea, but occult forces from the Cimmerian’s past have him in their sights... tinyurl.com/3uycxxth #conanthebarbarian

Dinner was taste testing the fruits of our labor and then, a few hours later, bagging the frozen ones for future meals. We made a 'full batch' of 90 pierogies today. Scroll down for the recipe in one if my old newsletter posts: www.jimzub.com/zubstack-2-l...

Grandma used to roll out the dough by hand, but we save time and hassle by using a hand crank pasta machine. It's way faster and the thickness of the dough is more consistent.

The original PlayStation came out when I was in college so I couldn't afford it. My roommate had one and we played the heck out of it. After finally getting a steady job, I bought the PS2 on launch day: Oct 26, 2000. PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5. I've been a loyal Playstation customer for 26 years.

Derek's birthday tradition is to get friends together to watch trashy horror movies. Some of them are ridiculously fun and others are soul-draining slogs I can only get through because we're watching them together delivering sarcastic commentary.

No matter how bad the movies are, even when our crew have verbally torn them to shreds or have literally fallen asleep watching them, the next day Derek and Eric will unironically talk about them like they're important pieces of cinematic splendor. It's an annual tradition.

Derek is a dear friend, the kind of guy who you could call in the middle of the night to bury a body and he'd happily ask "Do I need to bring shovels or have you already got them?", so if Derek wants to watch trash on his birthday, then that's what we do.

My first 5 TTRPGs in the order I played them: 1) Dungeons & Dragons (BX + AD&D) 2) Heroes Unlimited 3) Marvel Super Heroes (TSR) 4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness 5) Call of Crhulhu

The one minor hiccup is compatibility. Most games run straight after install, but some run slow or crash and in those cases you can quickly check the driver/display settings other users with the same device have used successfully and, with 1-2 button presses, use those same settings.

Set up took a few hours following tutorials and grabbing install APKs. Not seamless, but not difficult either. I've been tinkering with settings and frontends to get things just the way I want but, on the whole, I'm impressed and am excited to delve into my game library when I have more free time.

For older games and retro games, the Odin 3's form factor and power are ideal. It runs almost everything I've thrown at it. It can run many triple-A PC titles and in cases when it doesn't work natively I can run those through my beefy desktop PC and cast it to the Odin's screen to play on my couch.

Since the Odin 3 is an Android device, setting it up is like getting a new phone, but in this case you're loading it up with game apps and additional drivers. With DroidDeck or GameNative, you log into your Steam and Epic accounts and install games like you would on your PC.

I was leaning toward a Steam Deck or Steam Machine, but now with GameNative and DroidDeck running on the Odin it's become a mini Steam Deck and has even more flexibility, which is pretty wild.

Research on other options is a rabbit hole and I dug for quite a while. Ideally something portable I could travel with but also cast/plug in to my TV that wasn't just mucking with my laptop and HDMI.

After much back and forthing, I purchased an AYN Odin 3 and a dock for it. I can run Steam, Epic Games, and even emulators on it if I want. Set up is not quite plug-and-play, but after following a couple set up tutorials, it's quite the little powerhouse and doing pretty much everything I need.

Earlier this summer, I decided to finally move away from the PlayStation ecosystem. I'm sick of the walled garden and other policy decisions. I use my laptop and phone more nowadays.

I think my ability to distinguish between "I am feeling weirdly anxious and low today" and "I am just a person having a totally normal reaction to being alive during the 2020s" might have completely vanished.

• If you're not going to do research and get key facts about my work wrong, I am going to mentally checkout pretty fast. • If your interview is a thinly veiled way to try and get to someone more famous than me, it's pretty obvious.

• I need to get work done and if that means cutting and pasting answers from past incredibly generic interviews for your incredibly generic interview, so be it.

Some quick tips: • Unless this is a tell-all interview about a specific controversy, don't ask about bad experiences/bad publishers/bad collaborators. • In a similar vein, creators generally don't want to pick favorites because then the people we've worked with on non-favorites feel crappy.

Yup. A bunch of people telling me a comic/novel/show/game is 100% "made for me", it's utter crap, and I'm left wondering: 1) Why they like it 2) Why they ever thought I'd like it 3) If I need to burn my stuff to the ground to free me from any possible association with it

It doesn't matter what you've worked on, your quality or your dedication. These companies will sell your legacy right out from underneath you and strip it down for parts.

BREAKING: Electronic Arts is cutting 400 jobs and shutting down BioWare, the legendary development studio behind Dragon Age and Mass Effect. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

In stores today- CONAN: TIDES OF THE TYRANT-KING #2 In the Hyborian Age, the Cimmerian quests north while, in the 1920's, the soldier falls deeper under the thrall of the necromancer from Atlantis, plus the mysterious hooded figure is revealed!

One quick clarification: Rafael De La Torre is the artist drawing the current Firestorm series for DC. Roberto De La Torre is still working on Conan stories being published by Titan in Savage Sword of Conan. They are _not_ the same person.

As the guy who still gets people bringing up Zeb Wells' issues of Amazing Spider-Man for me to sign, getting this kind of thing right matters. Rafael ≠ Roberto Zeb ≠ Zub

Finally received copies of Conan: The Nomad Deluxe Edition, an oversized hardcover of the fully painted King Conan story Alex Horley and I unleashed last year. I think the original comp package was swiped from my front porch, but Titan sent another, which I deeply appreciate.

When I was a kid, fully painted comics were the top of the heap, prestige projects to be treasured. Getting to write one and see it brought to life by someone as skilled as Alex is glorious and surreal.

If that fully painted issue #25 was my final issue, it would have been a worthy send off. The fact that the series carries on, boosted to new heights by that milestone issue, makes it even more special.

CONAN THE BARBARIAN #39 On sale January 27, 2027 Conan is an audacious thief in Zamora and his latest heist is one he won't soon forget: 'steal' a young bride from her noble family so she can marry her secret lover. But, even if he succeeds, the reward will cost him more than he ever bargained for!
