Part time writer, videographer, and code ruiner. My head fell in the cheese dip back in 1957. What’s the last film you watched?

I keep mine outside and feed the cables through the window. It rains a lot here.

Tbf I would try to find a house where I could sit on the lamppost outside and see their tv and hope they watch Twin Peaks cos that’s one of the few things we’ve got over the pigeons

Film nerds do such a disservice to Barry Lyndon by focussing just on the candlelight scenes. Yes they are amazing, but there’s so much incredible stuff in that film.

Covered some distressing news for Palette Swap

Leave it to @tayfabe.bsky.social to write a hilarious piece about making Cyberpunk as sad as you can. I love the way she dives into the games she loves and spends time getting to know their worlds and lore inside out (while I sit next to her on the couch & play a different GBA game every 2 hours)

Well. David Cronenberg is still David Cronenberging. I wasn’t convinced in the first half but actually I feel like I’m going to be thinking about this film for a while. Glad I saw it in the cinema so I actually paid attention when it got more interesting

I’m getting suspiria (2018) vibes but less freaky bc not enough people watched suspiria? Also I feel like an Ayo Edebiri hipster bc I saw Bottoms at the cinema when it came out and loved her in it and then she seemed to be everywhere suddenly Or is that a Baader-Meinhof thing?

Watch the official trailer for Luca Guadagnino's After the Hunt, starring Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield and Julia Roberts 👀 In theaters October 17 via Amazon MGM Studios.

I hate work meetings but I’m actually so good at them. I listen to myself and I’m like… how am I so good at sounding like someone who works here and doesn’t just spend all day thinking about movies and jokes to post online

In the 1930s a commercial transatlantic flight meant 4 days in a zeppelin. By 1946, when Hitchock's Notorious was made, it took under 18 hours in an aeroplane. Quote from a character in that film: "we can expect rocket ships to be carrying us along the ocean very soon." Reminded me of AI hype.

Watched Stray Dog (1949) earlier, the first Kurosawa I’ve seen that wasn’t set in a historical period. Although ironically it is now an interesting window into the post-war Tokyo of the bygone era in which it was made. Sadly, ACAB includes Murakami and Sato 😢

I say the first draft because it’s a bit politically muddled. An intense and funny critique of hierarchical bureaucracy but by the end the answer seems to be “put someone better in that position of authority and things will be ok” which I don’t think Iannucci would have fallen into.

But there was a lot of interesting stuff to think about even if it is jumbled up. And it probably has the sickest “Godzilla destroying stuff” scene ever. The first 2/3 of the film are excellent and despite the last 1/3 it’s a great film overall.

I watched Violent Cop. Everyone on Letterboxd compares it to Dirty Harry but I haven’t seen Dirty Harry so for me it was more like Beverley Hills Cop meets Carlito’s Way. It relies more on emotion and tension to raise the audience’s heart rate than bombast. Overall a disturbing but good time

Why don’t streaming apps let you take screenshots on iPhone? I understand not allowing screen *recording* but I’m not exactly going to pirate a film by taking 24 screenshots a second for two hours

Eugene Levy’s eyebrows are worth two stars each on their own

Following his first rewatch since its release, this Letterboxd user is regretting his review of the 2005 straight-to-DVD American sex comedy. paletteswap.site/dif...

I just watched Hundreds Of Beavers and just… it feels on the FW Murnau’s Metropolis scale of creative achievement, while having more laughs per minute than any film I can remember. What the hell

I watched a film recently called The Happiest Day In The Life Of Olli Mäki and it was a pretty good representation of the pleasure of a nice personal life vs the misery of having to work

really cool to have SGF coverage on PS thanks to @tomasfranzese.bsky.social! in particular, been thinking about this quote from the Mouse team since I read the first draft
