Scalley on buying into the hype: "Make sure they understand what wins and losses football games." Said whatever happens on paper doesn't determine the outcome. There's good wins that are often followed up by letdowns. "You don't know other teams' motivation is."

Scalley said a lot of Devon Dampier's yards weren't just him taking it for himself, he was just doing his assignment. There were times, though, he did make the right read and decided to keep the ball to help move the offense. That's a big plus for the Utes with that.

Scalley said "let's just say maybe we run a play and maybe we don't" on the 4th down quick change from the punt to his offense. Said they didn't get to see the end of it because the refs blew the play dead because of the clock starting to run. Indicated there was a real chance

Scalley said Noah Bennee's penalty in the end zone was one of the "craziest things I've seen." Said he felt like it was one of his teammates, but they can't be having those types of things.

Scalley shouts out Daniel Bray for getting "every bit" of his three reps on Saturday. Was really pleased with what he showcased in the game.

Morgan Scalley starts his presser saying the "fans were awesome and the atmosphere was one of the best since I've been here."

Scalley said we'll learn from it, but we can't have those 2 turnovers like that. Said Devon Dampier is a "fighter" and just a "great human."

Scalley got a little emotional talking about the fight of his players. This means a ton to him and he doesn't take it lightly that his team is doing well.

"I think we were written off by a lot of people — I guess that's a respectful way to say it. We definitely felt that. We definitely came out here and it was the game we had to prove ourselves. We knew what situation we were in." — Devon Dampier

Jackson Bennee: "Honestly, good play, but it was honestly the call. I can't too much credit for it. ... It opened up the way it should. "I guess I got lucky. It was a good feeling for sure."

Wow. Wayshawn Parker with the 5-yard rushing TD and Utah is in the lead for the first time tonight. What a wild night. Utah 14 | Houston 13 4Q | 11:57

END OF 3RD Q: Utah 7 | Houston 13 Total: Utah 320 | Houston 309 Passing: Utah 147 | Houston 210 Rushing: Utah 173 | Houston 99

And just like that, Conner Weigman throws a 45-yard toss to an open man. He sat in between several Utah players in coverage.

Devon Dampier with a 22-yard rushing touchdown. Impressive drive for the Utes, who looked more dynamic and like themselves. Utah 7 | Houston 10 3Q | 4:25

And Houston eventually gets in with a 2-yard rushing TD (fans are booing and saying "ref you suck" after the PI call) Utah 0 | Houston 10 3Q | 6:46

HALFTIME Utah 0 | Houston 3 Total: Utah 194 | Houston 188 Passing: Utah 96 | Houston 120 Rushing: Utah 98 | Houston 68

Almost a TD pass, but Utah forced to kick a FG ... that is low and missed. When it rains it pours for Utah.

I genuinely am so confused by tonight's offense more than anything. If it's not Devon Dampier escaping the pocket, Utah hasn't really had an answer. Can't tout a dynamic offense and then do nothing with it

Utah lucks out as Conner Weigman overthrows his receiver in the end zone and they're forced to kick a FG. Utah 0 | Houston 3 2Q | 3:44

And after all that Devon Dampier is intercepted in the end zone. He got blitzed and thrown off balance as he was throwing it

END OF 1ST Q: Utah 0 | Houston 0 Total: Utah 101 | Houston 91 Passing: Utah 39 | Houston 67 Rushing: Utah 62 | Houston 24

Houston plays with fire and goes for it on 4th, but Weigman throws and incomplete pass. Utah got a hand on the ball for the turnover on downs.

Utah not able to get much in the ground game to start. A little odd considering how poor Houston has been against the pass this season, but it's a four-quarter game, so maybe it's being used to set up future stuff?

Wayshawn Parker stopped on a 3rd down run and Utah forced to punt on the first drive. Creed Whittemore had a rare dropped pass on the drive.

Scalley if a QB has more than 3.4 seconds to throw the ball, then he's worried about why they're not creating problems. He said there's been so few of those this season that it's not a problem.

Scalley said the biggest recruiting tool is "winning games." The players understand it's all about what they do on the field. The way to maximize the college game day efforts is to perform on the field and not get distracted by outside influences.

Scalley said a lot of the plays that stifled the offense were interior stunts. Felts confident in the RPO stuff and what Utah was doing, but just didn't connect at times. Said he felt positive after watching the game back.

Scalley said some of the issues was assignment, some was Colorado scheming to what Utah was trying to do. He said it "definitely wasn't as bad as it seemed" after watching the game.
