Not sure who might be heading to St. Pete for baseball reasons, but things you must do: * Drink a beer at Ferg's * Browse the cheese room at Mazzaro's * Eat a steak sandwich at the bar and then visit the dessert room at Bern's * Bring cash; get burgers at El Cap and Chattaway

Checking off a bucket list item — cooking on a finicky AGA in the Cotswolds. Over a couple of days, made beef stew, pulled lamb, falafel, several breakfasts and countless pots of tea.

The eldest daughter has figured out that you can buy three pomegranates for ~$15 or you can buy one little tub of pomegranate seeds for ~$12. Reader, she has watched youtube videos and is now a proficient pomegranate butcher.

The POLITICO offices are visible in this picture and I shudder to think about what trying to get into them looked like this morning.

Enthusiasm is running HIGH (just don't ask me how long it took to get into the office lmao)

This is like how my grandpa made his ribs: * soaked them in a black plastic trash bag in his garage fridge overnight with onions, soy sauce and grape jelly * braised in the oven until they were basically meat Jello * chilled overnight and grilled next day until with sauce for a caramelized crust

These pork ribs are braised low and slow in a sweet-savory mix until the meat surrenders, then finished under high heat with a glossy ketchup-honey glaze that caramelizes into something sticky and a little smoky. nyti.ms/4xNVysv

I cook in the oven first (Saran wrap, tin foil) before a brief blast on the smoker to add some color and some wood. Cool, rainy weather is perfect for keeping temps down.

Sauce is Vidalia (do NOT autocorrect to Visalia, good grief phone!) onions, blackstrap molasses, apple cider vinegar, fish sauce salt, yellow mustard, strawberry jelly, bourbon, fernet, and cane syrup cola.

I mean I say the same thing to my eldest daughter smdh

This is an actual line that was added to the official system prompt for Codex for GPT-5.5 by OpenAI. Usually the system prompt is as minimal as possible, so I assume it would otherwise mention goblins a lot. AIs are weird.

Also we cooked; lamb shoulder, spring vegetables, red potatoes, mint salsa verde and a yogurt sauce. And fresh milled soft white wheat shortcakes.
