Had a great time at Lightbox in LA. Hope to be there with a table next year maybe?

My favorite ship!

And of course, Matt Rhodes' work was and still is always an inspiration - such a solid understanding of fashion, illustration tone, storytelling...https://www.artstation.com/mattrhodes

Very sad to see Bioware's closure...Mass Effect came out around the start of my professional career, it's art direction and story really felt groundbreaking and resonated with me for decades.

first game gig was right out of college in 2007-2009, a small games studio in Vancouver. They were helping bioware with KOTOR, and potentially Jade Empire 2 (which looked amazing) before being aquired by EA. I didn't get to work on anything directly but it was really cool to see as a junior.

was looking at posters of this game every day at work, I was like damn I hope I can draw like this someday (still cant) www.artstation.com/artwork/1nzy6X

I did get a test to work on the Sonic RPG but I simply could not match @joyang.bsky.social incredible art (I still can't!)

Two older paintings from years ago I gave a little touchup on. Photoshop.

I hope they like make a new Mass Effect someday u kno?

I was more than fine with the original ending of 3 it was bleak as shit but like idk i felt like that was the whole idea

I never thought I'd become a 3 monitor person, but I'm starting to have thoughts. Please don't judge me.

Had to remind myself B.C. and other provinces won't be changing their clocks back 1 hour as we normally would on Nov 1st this year so we will be 1 hour AHEAD of California for half the year...

Sphinx, painted in photoshop

Anyways I did a moon last night cause I was so excited for Zelda news. Painted in photoshop.

Graphics will never get better than this

Nintendo free him

Zelda remake. The lighting feels a bit sauceless to me - once you cover everything with that mist and light the character/ambiance/colour/art direction of the environments gets lost imo. Castle town looked really nice. The maximalist details on his clothes will take getting used to for me.

Some lifedrawings - I want to get back into it! Let me know if you recommend any lesser known spots in vancouver that have sessions.

Just been informed a painting I did from 19 years ago (!) when I was fresh out of school and sold to MTG as slush art has found a home in Arena as a token card? I had no idea, very funny to see something from so long ago resurface like this

We were all big into pop surrealism at the time in my defence!

…. That you’ve created, I mean. Thought it went without saying but ok

Trying to enjoy a delicious meal in Granville island and one of the Davinki twins walks by. This city is intolerable.

And someone companied to the Chinese food place in the market that their food was cold. So rude! Show some respect. They are an institution and you should be honoured to eat their food cold, frozen or boiling!

thank you @esanchezill.bsky.social for taking screenshots of the gang and to our fearless group leader @jeffsimpson.bsky.social 🫡

Watching @dekubrush.bsky.social play through the entirely of Majoras Mask. So many little awesome little freaks, especially stone tower temple, mid and late game majoras mask has always been a blindspot for me but I’m shocked id never seen fanart or mention of these guys in the past 25 years

I enjoyed BOTW and TOTK as much as everyone else but they always felt watered down and a bit uninspiring in terms of character design to me, I know the focus was on the naturalistic world but I felt like the soul of the series took a turn I was less charmed by. I know this is an unpopular opinion

These were rad too

Lucky's Books & Comics, best store in the city (well that and magic box hobbies of course)

Also I bought this oops

Its the Chogokin mp4

On a Metroid high right now, playing this. Very fun! Just learned it was based on the NES first one. Stuck at an annoying boss tho. I played Metroid fusion but that was years ago so I’ll get to that next

Silksong has made me alot better at these games I think haha

I do hope the successes of backrooms obsession etc etc will make it so I stop hearing people tell me "horror/darker tones don't sell" but I suspect it won't...

oh er, I am told I'll be cohosting a panel at lightbox this year with some bigger artists than me, wish me luck
