Surprising, given the pain he looked to be in after the game. But good news for the Falcons. www.nytimes.com/athletic/768...
Two common problems in coaching circles: 1) head coaches too often hire their friends as opposed to the best assistant coaches: 2) great/proven coordinators won’t follow someone to another team unless they’re convinced the head coach is that good/will have security.
It remains baffling that Raheem Morris waited 12 years or whatever for another head coaching gig and hired Zac Robinson and Jimmy Lake as his coordinators.

Where Kirby and Dabo diverged: When the ground changed underneath them starting in 2021, Smart's Georgia program and Swinney's Clemson program went different directions. Their approach on transfers was slightly different. But not the only reason: www.nytimes.com/athletic/766...

They weren’t expected to win the series but let’s be clear: They didn’t lose this series because of pitching. It’s generally been their offense that has failed them.
The Braves season is over. In a year where they lost Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach, Bryce Elder, Reynaldo Lopez and other arms to injury, getting to the NLDS wasn't an awful result IMO. What do the Braves look like for 2027? www.baseballamerica.com/stories/what...
Unfortunately many players today don’t focus on things like contact and moving the runners over. They want to hit home runs. Too many strikeouts
Do the Braves need to change their entire offensive philosophy and bring on players that focus on speed and contact. They are not just bad offensively but they are boring. That may mean moving Acuna, Riley and Albies for your younger more dynamic talent.

Could Alabama-Georgia move, either game times or locations? And if it stays, what might it look like? Here's what we know right now about the approaching storm and how it may affect Alabama-Georgia: www.nytimes.com/athletic/766...

“What do I think I’ve proven? That I’m healthy,” Penix said. “That’s it." www.nytimes.com/athletic/766...
Did the Falcons completely botch the whole Kirk Cousins/Miichael Penix thing? Yes. But is Penix legit (if healthy)? Hell yes. Reminder: This is only his second game back.
The Falcons have 31 points in the third quarter and are averaging 7.2 yards per play, and Atlanta views this as a wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary.
And on the flip side, excellent work from @ken-rosenthal.bsky.social, as always: www.nytimes.com/athletic/766...

“Our squad’s just so dominant. Keelon’s Keelon. We’ve got a good O-line, we’ve got receivers, we’ve got everything, every piece. So excited for what we have in store.” Alabama is back? It sure looks like it - but we’ll have to see next week. www.nytimes.com/athletic/765...
"After 3 straight first-round exits, Braves won a playoff series. Can they win another?" Good question. Oddsmakers: - Dodgers 2-1 faves in Game 1. - Dodgers 2-1 faves to win World Series. Braves are 8.5-1 (5th of 8 teams). www.nytimes.com/athletic/765...
