I've been using this platform to post coaster pics, and I would consider myself a coaster enthusiast. I am painfully aware of the tragedy at Six Flags over Georgia. It appears the victim was also a coaster enthusiast, but more importantly, a father and a pillar of his community.

I do have faith in B&M and Six Flags to do a thorough investigation, and find out what happened. I also believe these rides are still safe to ride.

Some of these models have seat belts under their clamshell restraints (Goliath did not), and I believe all these coaster models will be retrofitted with belts, if they don't already have them. May Hassan Kariem rest in peace.

The coaster on which this tragedy occurred is called Goliath. The model itself is a B&M Hyper, like the one pictured here (Diamondback at King's Island). This ride model debuted in 1999, and this is the first stain on an otherwise perfect safety record.

I waited 23 years to ride Millennium Force, I planned 3 days at Cedar Point to make sure I'd have a day it was open. It went down an hour before I got there, and was back a day after I left. See you next time, MF #believeinfilm #blackandwhite #filmphotography #35mm #analog #film
