Felt kind of weird to intentionally capture this moment. But, in hindsight, really grateful we did. I’ve never regretted documenting a moment — but I’ve often regretted not.

I had writer’s block this weekend. But then I just wrote about what felt real to me in that moment. It felt scary—but when you give yourself permission, the words just flow.

Yes, you could play around with Claude Code. You could also read a book! Yes, you could create an app today. You could also just keep writing! Could ≠ Should

I’ve been locking myself out of social apps on my phone a lot lately, and it’s remarkable how much more spacious my days feel. Plus my inner state is much calmer. If your phone is a tool for creation, great. But for me, it was becoming a tool for consumption and comparison—and that was a problem.

I firmly believe that it’s far better to share less and blow people away each time rather than share more at a lower standard. There’s a cost to how often you stay top-of-mind, but the benefit is so much trust. When you truly honor people’s time, they notice. Trust > Attention.

I feel so fortunate to have grown up in the 90s. To see and come of age *alongside* the internet, not *with* today’s internet. Millennials understand the past and think of the future differently than any other digital native generation.

This week marks 8 years since I quit my job and became a creator. Took a minute, but turned out to be a good move. 🙏

There’s a special feeling when the puzzle you’re trying to solve in your mind clicks into place. Almost nothing beats it.

Most creators don’t think about how they use their time when building their creative business. That’s why I admire how @jay.blog navigates life as a creator and a new dad. Recently, he shared how costly it’s been *not* to be 100% dialed in when it’s time to work.

In today’s social media, followers are only marginally more likely to see your content than non-followers. Followers are a vanity metric, not a distribution system.

You can do anything, but you can’t do everything. So if you’re beating yourself up for not doing X or Y thing, ask yourself what you ARE doing. You’re not a failure — you’ve just made different choices and chosen different priorities.

Creator businesses are tied to the creator's enthusiasm. more enthusiasm → more momentum → more enthusiasm → more momentum... But it goes in reverse, too: less enthusiasm → less momentum → less enthusiasm → less momentum...

If you feel yourself losing momentum, you probably need to regenerate your enthusiasm. Find the fun. Set yourself up for small wins. Small, positive outcomes will generate enthusiasm and start to rebuild momentum.

If you’re stuck consuming everyone else’s content, you are likely lacking clarity around your own priorities. When you are clear about your vision, you don’t want to spend time doing anything else.

As more creators join the scene, the expectations for all content increases. If you aren’t constantly improving, you're falling behind.

Welp, my 2024 Year In Review post accidentally turned into 5,000 words with a lot of data. 😅 Sharing it tomorrow morning in the Creator Science newsletter.

Writing my 2024 Year In Review... What do people typically NOT include that you wish they did? Alternatively, what do you hope to see in it?

This week, I went through my calendar for the next 6 months and proactively blocked time for ME. I never blocked time for: • Workouts • Meals • Travel prep • Travel recovery That's changing in 2025! More of my time for me and the family.

This will be our daughter’s first Christmas! I’m excited to create brand new family traditions. I’d love to hear some of your favorites for inspiration!

Well, I’ve done it. I’ve transitioned from completely unknown to being tagged in posts as a “guru” that should be ignored. Creator circle of life 🤷‍♂️

Parenting isn’t hard it’s trying to be an adult/husband/friend/son/entrepreneur *while also* parenting that’s tough. 😂

When you're just getting started, you think VIEWS are the goal. When you get views, you think REVENUE is the goal. When you get revenue, you think LIFESTYLE is the goal. Just skip to the end. Make decisions that help you enjoy your day-to-day, and let time work in your favor.

I've been a little slower in responding to posts in The Lab this week... ...and the community hasn't missed a beat. Feels like there's more momentum there than ever. 🙌

I underestimated the impact our channel would have on our GUESTS. Anecdotally, I know it’s generated close to seven figures of total business for our guests now. Wild.

It's a good thing people pay me to coach them on business and not how to cut a label off a plastic bottle without jamming scissors into your hand so hard it requires stitches.

By this time next year: 1.) YouTube channel will double (200K+ subs) 2.) I'll be consistently publishing short-form video Just calling my shot. Call yours 👇

My wife replaced all of our door knobs with door handles. We're often carrying the baby, so handles made it easier to get into rooms... Our very smart golden retriever, Ted, has noticed this difference – and can no longer be kept out of any room.
