Unfortunately, I don’t think Bluesky has a chance of really taking off unless they can get government agencies to do more than have dummy accounts. LAFD and LADWP still use Twitter for official posts which is really unacceptable.

If my cats were board gamers, Slinky would choose a cozy game (pictured) and Peanut would choose a war game. Especially if it involves the neighbor's cat.

For 50+ years I've been wishing I had photos from the night in 1975 when my friends and I dressed up as Kiss and jammed. And now it turns out that a precious few exist. Thank you to Jeff Stephens, who kept a few of them, and to Scott Newell and the late John Papadakis, who are with in this photo!

CAT OWNERS-PLEASE READ My cat, Peanut, has taken to drowning her toys. This morning I took a red pom pom out of her toy box. Tonight this is what her water dish looked like. From now on, I will either give her natural toys or check each toy for colorfastness before I let her put it into her mouth.

My fellow board game designers will be pleased to know that according to Zip Recruiter the average salary for a board gamer designer is almost $150,000/year and the best place to be one is Sitka, Alaska.

Escape from the Aliens in Outer Space was the first game I ever played at a board game meetup. So, it’s a bit surreal to see Rock Hard: 1977 nipping at its heels on the BGG hotness.

Hanging with the finalists at the Rock Hard: 1977 championship at the World Series of Board Gaming. They were real rock stars, starting the game around 11 PM. Justin (lower left), the winner, even made it to the awards presentation at 8 AM. Congrats to them all.

If you are at the World Series of Board Games, I'll have two copies of the Jackie Fox promo card for Rock Hard: 1977 available after the awards presentation Sun morning for $250 each, cash, Venmo or PayPal. 100% of proceeds go to a 501(c)(3) charity for L.A. fire prevention and relief.

Hi, Bluesky! Did I ever mention that I love #boardgames and #cats? Though TBH, it is a bit hard to start up a board game when the cat is using your gaming table as a cat bed and she looks so happy.

DEVIR UPDATE We want to thank the many hobbyists who took a stand and showed their support for this cause. In 2025, there is no place for those unwilling to recognize and respect the humanity of others. Devir has released a statement addressing this matter. boardgamegeek.com/thread/35556...

I am always acutely aware that my artistic choices affect others. Unfortunately, of late, publishers (my own included) are making choices that affect disadvantaged communities, not to mention their other artists. Publishers always need to ask who might be harmed. Don't go generic-just go kind.
