🎙️ON AIR: We're talking to @izzieramirez.bsky.social, @heatherkelly.bsky.social and @emilydreyfuss.bsky.social about the many iterations of the telephone, which turns 150 years old this month. ❓What’s a feature of a previous iteration of phone tech you miss/love? 📻 Listen:

buff.lyDialing Up 150 Years on the Phone | KQEDWe’ll discuss what looking back on how we used the phone can teach us about restoring connection and meaning in our lives.

🫵🏽Are you a #chef, #waiter, #caterer, #eventplanner? Have you ever had to serve an insanely wealthy private party? I want to talk to you!🫵🏽 For Serviette Magazine, I'm writing about the folks who make decadent nights possible. Happy to grant anonymity! Hit me up: izziermrz@gmail.com #restaurants

I'm keen on talking to back-of-house workers in Los Angeles, the Hamptons, and Miami. AND if you're wondering, I'm not new to this. I'm true to this. Here's a pic from a party in where there were 3 handles of tequila, a quarter of a parm wheel, and limitless oysters per table.

I want to get to know the most absurd, high-octane stories of overindulgence — and how #serviceworkers feel about it. What do you do with the leftovers? What's something you wish that could be better? Email me: izziermrz@gmail.com. Again, I'll grant anonymity :) #journorequest

THIS JUST IN: I'm the first ever Vox employee to hit the aegyo during an exit interview. Today is my last day as deputy editor of Future Perfect! I've had a blast working with this truly iconic team, but it's time for me to do my own thing!

I'll be freelance writing, editing, designing, and maybe even app developing! I'm available for work on stories about pop culture, consumerism, food, AI, health, sports, anime, architecture, design, etc etc. You can reach me at izziermrz@gmail.com! More soon xoxo

Did you catch these nods to Puerto Rican culture and history during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show? 👀🇵🇷 Vox’s deputy editor and Benito aficionado Izzie Ramirez breaks down some of the most important moments. You can read the full analysis: www.vox.com/culture/4784...

to a casual listener, it may seem that Bad Bunny only sings about bagging baddies. that’s partially true. but for any Puerto Rican, from those on the archipelago to those in the diaspora, there are deeper layers. i wanted y’all to feel like you, too, are in on the secret.

there were SO many other iconic moments that didn't make the piece: 🎧 old school reggaeton (daddy yankee and don omar!) 🛞 gomeras aka tire guys. fun fact: my abuelo was one before in canovanas becoming a pro jockey 🪑 the little boy sleeping on the chair — a universal party experience!!!

Team resources is why worker-owned media collectives are so important. It's not gonna fix everything, especially the problem of readers only having so much cash, but everyone can't go it alone.

"I feel just at home in my roots making bean and squash tacos for a dinner party in Brooklyn as I do eating brisket with my dad by the side of a racetrack in Austin, cars whipping by." Sharing this beautiful piece by @izzieramirez.bsky.social for @vox.com: www.vox.com/future-perfe...
