It's 2007, you're staying up late patching PHP and Java servers It's 2015, you're staying up late patching PHP and Java servers It's 2026

tbh this invokes some non negligible amount of impostor syndrome, like, oh shit if I can't imagine doing this without AI atp what am I even doing

it's crazy how easy it is to spot 10x engineers these days for a certain set of people LLMs totally unlocked their potential to the point where imagining their life before this seems totally depressing

kind of obsessed with the idea of an sEMG based subvocal recognition engine. some papers have gotten to like 70% accurate with 6 sensors. modern frontier models can handle a whole lot worse than that in terms of accuracy. I think a thin 3d printed headset with conical surface sensors

especially with bone conduction on the meta glasses (or equivalent I really don't want actual meta hardware), I think I could fully be functional without making noise or any real movements in nothing but the space it takes to sit and exist

idk maybe I'm critical about it not being too hard but we absolutely have the modern technology for this, no question about it. I want more people/companies care. this is even ignoring the accessibility outputs of this, which is where most of the funding and research has been focused

could actually be super usable to have closed lips "recognition". stuff like the alter ego use EEG plus probably some camera recognition to "read the thoughts". but even simpler could easily be internal mouth "words". that cannot be that difficult. I have a mental image of the meta headset

plus the sEMG band and subvocal recognition hardware on a plane and you could be fully doing work on multiple tuis with very little actual movement and no sound

Was having a convo at work about how Astra is much easier to work with for what we do than Opus 5 and someone was like “we’re doing toxic workplace gossip about coworkers but they’re robots, you realize that right”

sometimes it seems like being an AI User™ is cheating in some regards. I.e. buying a house. It can do a 100x job compared to any title company with some reasonably basic prompting and a few well placed skills. the work it's doing would be easily many hours, even if I knew what needed to be done

wow it even found records going back to the mid 1800s when the land was being traded around different hands before it had any kind of house or development on it. i had to tell it to stop because like, i don't need that kind of detail, but there is _ZERO_ chance I would have found that myself

my partner didn't trust what the AI was going to do but I sicced Astra on the problem anyway. partner is at 4 records analyzed, Astra is cross referencing hundreds and finding mis-labeled records with typos of someone's name and correlating it into the deeds lifecycle

how much of a pain is moving email and such to a new address off Google workspaces? do I actually need to use a Google account? Maybe YouTube, but Immich, FastMail maybe, idk

I've been holding onto this one domain and it hosts a stupid website but I bought it in an auction like 12 years ago and it's a meme

I hold nothing but contempt for "spreadsheet people". they're not civilized like us jira guys

@bisks.net you did a really great job with the builder bot. been trying to build a version of it at work; the edge cases are crazy, and the model so often just fails spectacularly.

anime enjoyers are so spoiled these days. staying up to 2am to watch the next episode or else i'll be off schedule just like, isn't a real problem anymore.

this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again

i love that ai can be used both for highly professional "business tasks" but also can be used to make stupid toys because why not and that's just so fun

I welcome cold contacts/emails. I think random out of the blue conversation is probably the most affirming way to participate in a society, so I both appreciate when others do it, and I try to do it myself.

the whole zig situation just makes me want to tell my models to only ever write in zig, and proclaim loudly that the project has zero human written code

contrary to what early bullying may present, being pantsed as an adult doesn't actually happen and isn't a concern of every day life
