I needed this comment thread this morning.

I am a doctor. I wish that I could prescribe dildos to people. We could in the Victorian era. The amount of people these days getting random household objects stuck in their arses is getting ridiculous. Please, you're an adult, just get a proper and safe dildo, for fuck's sake.

"When you love the sounds of London jazz but don't possess the lifestyle of London club culture, it creates an identity mismatch. You like the dish, but you feel like you aren't allowed in the restaurant." I was trying to put my finger on it. That's the vibe when I tune into 6Music on saturdays.

Of all the output on 6Music it's definitely the case that those saturday afternoon shows are the most London-centred of them all. They couldn't happen anywhere else in the world. Like that's where that scene nearly entirely exists. So I just feel othered and gatekept from it, unintentionally.

I think this is a lot of words to say I am lonely and depressed again probably. I got this life stuff so badly wrong.

The music will be cool and enticing, but then they will be chatting and have these cultural touchpoints and local references that are over my head, and I get this sense of voyeurism and impostor syndrome, like this isn't for me or anyone not in London. Like it is beamed from parallel universe.

Upon reflection, this is how ppl feel about the BBC in general; remote from London's culture, yet beaten over the head with it while their culture is marginalised. For me it's not quite the same... in this case, I yearn to be more immersed in that culture than it is possible for me to be.

Somebody upgraded the S-YXG50 VSTi to an "S-YXG1000", with support for all of the waveroms and patches of MU modules up to the MU1000. You could think of it like an "MU1000-lite" as it's missing the other expanded features. Nonetheless, I love this! github.com/NightFright2...

What I really hoped for from an MU2000 VSTi was to be able to play back midis with it. Unfortunately I can't practically do that with the S-MU2000 because it runs too slow on my Core i3 2100 toaster. This runs about as quickly as vanilla S-YXG50 though, yet has MU100+ samples. We made it.

The UK govt, if today's newsmedia headlines are to be believed: - You must pay the BBC £180 a year to watch YouTube poops - Also we are banning facesitting, it's fucking dangerous, so cut it out

tbh a big part of the appeal of watching Celebrity Traitors was knowing the very cool & original Bella Ramsey was in it. pretty bummed out they didn't stick around longer. but too hooked to stop watching so I guess I'm team Lycett now instead.

This scene in Disney's Basil: The Great Mouse Detective, where Rattigan destroys Olivia's ballerina doll by squeezing it until its eyes pop out & head springs off. Nightmare fuel for 4yo me, and tbh even 40yo me is disgusted by it.

Sleepy Hollow Reviews 🎃🐎@sleepingvillage.bsky.social

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

It upset me for a few reasons. -The ballerina looks as lifelike as the main characters. Felt like witnessing a murder. -Rattigan's frightening expression/anger. -The iinjustice. Olivia adored the doll, it was a gift from her doting father. - I wasn't expecting it. It taught me about evil I guess.

Pokémon Heart & Soul has a QoL feature for Raikou & Entei; they growl and their sprites dash across the map upon entering their spawn area. Even so, I save-scummed. It was hard enough catching them with save-scumming! I have no idea how we coped with them in the GameBoy Color games...

Anyone who has a GameBoy Advance and flashcart should seriously play this btw! I know my pokéfrenz are lurking. The most satisfaction I have had with a pokémon game ever - even if I am suboptimally using an emulator on Wii.

It's only natural that after a while of playing a videogame, you eventually grow tired of it and cast it aside, perhaps forgetting about it entirely and not going back to it for years. Live service games: "What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch?"

If Triptunes is downloaded more than 10 times today I will reveal what the whispering in Honest Truth Zone is actually saying.* (*this is a lie.)

Okay I have somehow never watched this before, I see what the hype is about now, it's like a chattering classes big brother meets amongus. heartbreaking to admit that I enjoyed it.

Took some grinding but Elite Four is kill. Now into Kanto and "post-game" if you can call it that. I forgot how much the world opens up at this point. Getting a bit of pokéburnout! Heart & Soul has wild and trainer pokémon at high levels in Kanto (40+) so it's a different vibe to HGSS.

Running around Johto grinding up levels with EXP Share on the five Gen 1+2 starter pokémon that I caught on victory road. Also I caught Celebi :o !! I think Heart & Soul is the goat pokémon now tbh, finally a pokémon game where I can actually catch 'em all as I was promised.

Me: *takes walk without phone* My brain: god this feels so pointless and like a waste of time, I'm such a loner, I hope I don't look weird or suspicious, I'm so sad, so lonely and feel so alienated yet I can't bear other people. welp now I am hot and sweaty and need to shower and change

"Notice the sound of the birds, the fresh air on your skin and the colours, and physical sensations in your body" yes thank you I have four decades of noticing those things, I am quite familiar, I especially noticed them on acid and weed, was something good supposed to happen afterwards or. what now

Me: *goes for a walk* My brain: you know the way that if you hit your thumb with a hammer, it throbs? I feel like that, it is as if the entire universe is throbbing a depressive humanoid lump.

Get More Exercise to Improve Mental Wellbeing they said. Ruminate faster and more intensely with a higher heart rate.

This has been updated and improved daily since it dropped. I'm using a Core i3 2100 so it runs like ass except the offline renderer, but with the latest update it's just about usable for me as a live midi player. In terms of accuracy though, it's almost transparent to the original hardware.

Some incredible news. The YAMAHA MU2000, considered the pinnacle of the Yamaha XG range of MIDI synths along with the SW1000XG soundcard, is now available as a VSTi; the S-MU2000. In theory(!) you can download and use this today. I have been waiting decades for this! github.com/tarboh/S-MU2... (1/2)

imagine if you're a visual artist, right. but you can't just post your images online. you have to pay a middleman who is an "image distributor" to actually upload them to the sites people use. because people refuse to look at your images if they're not on the site they use for images

Remember this fungi season, do not collect fungi that make you hallucinate, that is bad and illegal! Instead, collect fungi that make you shit out your internal organs and then die, there is no legal problem with that whatsoever. 🌞

Weirdos: this autumn I want to watch Strictly and Traitors, I know all of these very wealthy people they are like my friends except not! Normies: this autumn I want to eat the chinese mushroom that makes me hallucinate liliputlians running around my ankles for several days.

Made up the progress I lost other than a couple of things, and caught a shiny Vulpix for my trouble, too! Now, let's do the fackin Mahogany Town gym and bugger off to the Ice Cave.

I lost several hours of progress on Pokémon Heart & Soul because VBAGX goofed and failed to write the battery save to the SD card, despite multiple saves during gameplay. Not impressed, though I suppose you get what you pay for ... I will be using save states from now on.

feeling a bit fucked off with health stuff. threshold hypertension and continuing crohn's. I feel pressured into lifestyle changes I don't feel able or willing to sustain, and no guarantee it helps anyway.

Shiny rate is set to 1/512 which I think is 16x more common than vanilla GSC/HGSS, yet I am as far as Gyarados Lake and still haven't encountered one! Not a complaint, they should be rare, just maybe not "play the game every day for a year and maybe you will see one" rare. Otherwise, loving this.
