When the days grow long and a chill creeps through the air.... Adventurers of Eorzea gather in their most frightening garb for merriment and mischief! Announcing Austin City Limit Break 2: All Saint's Wake! On October 9th, 2027, join us for a day of frightening fun!

As someone who just ran a small, very focused fan event... this is part of why we did it. This is so fucking depressing to me. Running these events aren't cheap, you don't expect to break even, but you do it because it's worth it to make that space for the fandom.

Just read that Informa, the company that owns all the Fan Expo shows, just bought the company that owns Left Field Media (Rose City Comic Con, Awesome Con, Anime NYC, and Anime Frontier.)

It's hard. I know that there is the possibility that GWF might not happen next year because of the costs and the complexity (these sites are happy to charge $$$$$). Who knows how long we will be able to keep ALB going. But I want to do it to fight against this bullshit

To make space for a community to come together, not to make money, not to make the most "polished" and "professional" experience, but to make a genuine and earnest expression of love and care and joy. To make something accessible. To make something human.

People who attend can see and talk to the folks who are responsible for the event. Artists are treated like valued parts of the event. Attendees are the focus of the design, not making money on "exclusives" and trying to milk as much profit from them as possible. I hate the monopolization of fan joy

I'm so incredibly proud of myself and my amazing friends for what we were able to pull off today. It was beyond exciting to see everyone actively engaging: filling the panel rooms, enjoying the photo sets, and showing up for all the amazing artists.
