Vienna also has one more district with 100k+ residents now Welcome to the club Landstraße!!! There are now 9 districts with over 100k Leopoldstadt, Landstraße, Favoriten, Simmering, Meidling, Ottakring, Floridsdorf, Donaustadt, Liesing And next Year another one (Penzing) will probably join them
Austria grew by 21 900 people in 2026 Basically only in Vienna which grew by 13 747 people The fastest growing regions outside of Vienna are smaller cities surrounding Vienna like eisenstadt, Wiener neustadt and St Pölten And Graz and area around it
What is the reason that LIRR is up so much and NJ transit is down so much?
Today we have US transit data for all of 2025, & DC's WMATA was officially the fastest-growing major US agency, with ridership up 8.7%! The LIRR (NY, 6.4%), King County Metro (Seattle, +6.5%) & SEPTA (Philly, +4.7%) performed well, while LA Metro & NJTransit lost riders🧵
Hi @nerd4cities.bsky.social Just watched your recent Video and loved it! Decided to calculate it for Vienna for 2024: Metro area of Vienna population: Vienna: 2005760 Lower Austria: 1723723 Burgenland: 301951 Ridership VOR (regional transit org): 1,124 billion Result: 278,8
Here it is on a map, the new bikelane in red, this stops having to go across the gürtel on the yellow existing lanes so you can keep going on the eastern side with no unnecessary crossings
Lets gooooo A gap in the gürtel bike route in Vienna at Westbahnhof will be finally closed in the next month Car lanes will stay the same tho, because that road operated with a lane less because of a construction project (which is now close to done) anyways
The greens have been the only party that consistently target the EU-Vote in Vienna and all of Austria so its not entirely surprising But how dominant it is crazy, in some districts the Greens got 60% of the EU vote and the arguably were pivotal in flipping the 5th district from the spö to greens
Last Sunday wasnt just a City-wide election, but also 23 district elections happened, and not only austrian citizens, but also EU-Citizens are eligble to vote there And it seems like the Greens absolutely dominated that EU-Vote getting 36,6% of it way ahead of the spö at 28,2%
