Ok, now I have spent well over 5 hours on getting TLS working on Oracle 26. I think it is working now. And I'm pretty experienced on TLS, even on Oracle. Will continue with mTLS tomorrow... and then I'll also spend 5 minutes on setting up TLS on Postgres.

Measuring PostgreSQL read replica lag (hot standby) with synchronous_commit=remote_write. To estimate the write lag on replica when preparing to turn on pgDog query load balancing. At 1400-1500 write tps, single thread, 60min test run. Need to investigate these tail ends.

And then straight to the Nevski cathedral with glowing reviews. Home of the Russian aggressors. Painful to watch. cancel.

Exceptionally slow coffee machine on Sõru-Triigi ferry, mine took like 1 min. The silent passive aggressive queue forms, the silence and looks… and the next 1 min brew starts.

Another unintuitive temporal nugget. Documented ofcourse. EXTRACT() from TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE returns values in UTC!

I so much hate when someone (more managerial) send a page - "I generated this using AI, please fact check it". I always end up deleting all/most of it and rewriting since the information is just wrong and it uses so many words. Huge waste in time and resources.

The dreaded PostgreSQL "cached plan must not change result type" and connection pooling (pgBouncer). Looks like I have to build something that notifies pool that DDL has happened and reconnect backends. Or pgDog, but then I have a CREATE ROLE notification problem. Could contribute to pgDog.

Cool, managed to find the limit of bigfile tablespace (in 16k block size database). "alter tablespace dw_etl_data maxsize 65t" - ORA-740 datafiue size of xx blocks exceeds maximum file size

Has anyone used Percona MongoDB server? I think they just take MongoDB community edition source and merge their own features on top? I'm just interested in auditing.

#netflix how does advertising qualify as “legitimate interest“? Haven’t really used Netflix for a while, time to exit?

Looks like etcd 3.5.28 breaks patroni - Failed to get list of machines - etcdserver: user name is empty. etcd is authenticated. 3.5.29 does not help, downgrade helps.

I saw a table in my old project "dual_replacement" and thought it must be veeery old. Now I see a comment in a view that did not compile anymore "Here it uses dual_replacement because since 19c it seems that when doing DML against view it checks that all referred tables have write privileges"

Amusement for today, letting LLM to rewrite internal documentation to style mixing Linkedin speak and Shakespeare. "A question worth synergizing upon!" "THE PLOT THICKENS: A STRATEGIC NARRATIVE"

"Should the gateway's performance prove insufficient—and mark my words, it often doth—then code refactoring becomes thy destiny." "A significant investment? Verily. Worth the ROI? Data-dependent, forsooth!"

"Thus concludes our architectural journey. The stage is set; the play's the thing. Let thy organization now execute with purpose and passion!"

"To gateway or not to gateway—that is NOT the question. Rather, 'tis: Can our infrastructure bear the computational burden?"

Dear Microslop, you seem to be pushing the large slop generators everywhere, but could you please add one where is would actually be needed - search in Teams.

Trying to put bike-fitted measurement on my Cannondale Topstone XL, measurements say hoods to saddle (where width is 80mm) must be 888mm, best i can do is 840mm :( Looks like my only options are Canyon Grizl 7 CL XXL or custom build. Noone else does so crazy reaches.

Just funny 🤦‍♂️ "CPUQuota={{ cpu_count*100 }}%" turned into "CPUQuota=5555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555%"
