Trump just signed the GENIUS Act! I hate Trump but I Iooove crypto! 1 of 3 crypto bills are through to the finish line. 2 will be considered by the Senate soon and then they go to Taco Don. Recall I said this is stablecoin summer? It's now official! Stablecoins are now have a regulatory framework.

Live action Zelda casting! Film coming in 2027. I'm a huge Zelda fan btw 🙂 Zelda - British actor Bo Bragason, best known for her roles in a number of BBC One series – such as Three Girls and The Jetty – as well as a main cast member in Disney's Renegade Nell, where she portrayed Roxy Trotter.

Link - Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, another British actor who's appeared in a number of films and TV projects. The biggest of these was Disney's live-action remake of Pinocchio, he was the leading role as the voice of the eponymous puppet. Anyone else excited for this or playing any Zelda games lately?

This is so messed up. I'm pretty sure that's why they shuffled the head of the IRS a few times in the last few weeks. They wanted someone who would be fine with weaponizing it against universities.

I'm tempted to say that the whole academic antisemitism thing is just a vector for Trump to go after universities. He doesn't really care about antisemitism. It's even debatable if there is antisemitism before fostered by these educational institutions.

DOGE/Musk preferentially cancelled grants and contracts to recipients in counties that voted for Harris in 2024. Among cancellations with election data available, 92.9% and 86.1% cancelled grants and contracts went to Harris counties, representing 96.6% and 92.4% of total dollar amounts.

The problem (MMT aside) with the deficit/debt is not the spending part of the equation but rather the revenue side of the equation. Taxation used to be 20% - 22% GDP. Before the Trump tax cuts it was 14% - 16% and with tax cuts up for renewal it is 12% - 14%.

We need to make the rich pay their share. I personally think things need to go back to late 1940s income tax structure with top tax bracket of 90%+, raise the capital gains tax to at least 25% & make the social security payroll tax more progressive so as to avoid having to cut benefits next decade.
