I wonder if noted "historian" and Trump friend Newt Gingrich is lobbying for the position?
The Smithsonian’s top official, Lonnie G. Bunch III, is retiring, ushering a transition at the institution just as President Trump intensifies his campaign to influence its portrayal of American history. Here is the full letter Bunch sent to staff:
Sure do wish they could have rerouted that food cart stowaway to Honduras. Or Venezuela. Or Cuba.
NEW FROM ME: The US Air Force has done dozens of secret ICE flights to Honduras since early June, in the largest and most regular use of their aircraft in Trump's second term. Read it here now, or read it in NYT six months from now. gillianbrockell.com/the-air-forc...
"Depression and acceptance await." What do depression and acceptance look like, if not like the anger and bargaining we've already seen? How can we tell the difference between acceptance and yet another round of bargaining? @radiofreetom.bsky.social www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
Wow... Just amazing. Intelligence must have looked into Tulsi's background. Did they miss this? Or did Trump give her top clearance anyway? From WaPo: Tulsi Gabbard, her guru and the mysterious messages that helped shape her political career www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...
The relatively low cost of basic science compared to the incredible payoffs we get from it never ceases to amaze me. The stupidity of those who would end that research, on the other hand, is perpetually baffling. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/20/o...

I grew up at a time when everybody knew instinctively that people of color were inferior.
RAJU: But what evidence is there to prove the California election is rigged? MIKE JOHNSON: Look, some of these efforts are so diabolical and so far upstream it's impossible to prove. But I think everybody knows instinctively that something is wrong here.

Shortly before the election I posted this. I still think this sums up why the other candidates didn't stand a chance. Zohran LOVES New York, and loves the people, and the best the other guys could manage was, "I live here." bsky.app/profile/icen...
Zohran genuinely loves the people of his city and wants the best for them. It’s astonishing how much we’ve all been starved of that by our leaders.
So, Noam Chomsky is in the Epstein files, and I wondered about Deepak Chopra. I don't know if he's in the files, but he tried to meet 16 year old Sevda Rubens late at night. She didn't go. "Male gurus are a construct. Smart girls are real," she wrote later. americanbazaaronline.com/2026/02/07/i...
I know people today who say, "I didn't vote for *this*!" But they *did* vote for it, they just didn't imagine this level of evil. Without acknowledging their own complicity and culpability, they are in effect saying, "I voted for the evil, but not this much evil." They still voted for evil.
This is a nuanced issue. Have those people been enacting incredible harm prior to their change of heart? Have they been actively attacking or dismissing those who did know as doomers or hysterical? Because then the proper reaction is “welcome friend, I think you have some apologies to make.”
