I'm gutted, so shocked and so saddened and just in mourning of him and all the amazing things he should/could/would have done if he was still here. To his colleagues, his friends, his family, his son... I'm so deeply sorry. To the powers that be, please take care of him, and the ones closest to him.

Since I moved to LA, it seemed like every career milestone I had, Bauza was there to cheer and celebrate alongside me. My first union job, my first professional record session where we shared the booth together, all the premieres and wrap parties and gatherings, he was like the MC of our lives...

This one goes for the Doremi fans at the World Animation Discord ^^ I thought of the "what-if?" that Onpu Segawa would be happier as a metalcore/ grindcore vocalist than as a pop idol, so i just couldn't resist. :D #ojamajodoremi #magicaldoremi #fanart #metal

Sometimes I browse through heritage auctions and I find the occasional odd gem, but today I stumbled upon the mother-load: these ridiculous grocery store ads promoting the release of The Jungle Book, and each one has me absolutely reeling. Sharing them here so you too can share in my bewildered joy

"A Dunesbury Special" is maybe the only genuine example of American "adult animation" I've ever seen in the sense that it addresses adult concerns and in the sense that any child who tried to watch it would probably find it pretty boring. It also maintains visual interest despite its verbosity.

incredible stuff from harlock ep 9. directors are masayuki ozeki and johei matsuura, but i don't know who did which half

One of my favorite aspects of the Popeye shorts is how, for awhile, every short had a new title arrangement! Often the cues were thematic: The Spinach Overture has a more brazen orchestral sound, like a fanfare; Brotherly Love is more pious (that bell!), Shiver Me Timbers has a literal shiver to it

Wanted to see if Procreate Dreams was more wieldy than the last time I touched it upon release (and it is, yay!) Been awhile since I've consciously done frame-by-frame animation rather than just keyframes, but nice to hop back on the saddle!

My newest article for MagicalStage, all about Pierrot’s return to 80s mahou shoujo with “LuluttoLilly” 🪄

Hey everyone! @znotetaku.bsky.social is back writing about this new anime called LuluttoLilly! I doubt they're as magical as me! 💜 https://magicalstage.moe/2026/04/10/pierrots-magical-return-magical-sisters-luluttolilly-and-tradition/

discord is useful for letting us curate our perfect communities of like-minded people but there was admittedly something to the town square nature of twitter that brought together people who’d normally never interact, forcing us out of our comfort zones. but also that was hell. i could never go back

More importantly, an amazing person who shaped a humane philosophy that the studio carried from its founding until now, and in the hands of his family, into the future. People who crossed paths with him remember both small acts of kindness and his ahead-of-their-time views on animation production

All my condolences about the passing of KyoAni founder & president Hideaki Hatta. No exaggeration to say that he's been one of the most important individuals in the history of this industry, especially if you consider that he also had a hand in IG's inception www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/information/...

The fun part is they all have their own tricks! Kitanohara did something similar with objects rather than characters. Ota turned digital effects like sparkles, shading, reflections, etc into clearly drawn effects... then it all contrasts with the physical backdrop. "Handmade" from a different angle!

The ways CITY's creative width becomes specific technical choices is also fascinating. Given how stylized everything is, each director basically adapts to the "level of technology" of the series. Ishidate started by translating photography ideas like being out of focus into the drawings themselves

One of CITY's greatest achievements is pushing veteran artists to tackle new challenges. Joji Unoguchi started as an in-betweener in the 80s, became a leader of KyoAni's budding BG art crew, then spent decades as art & 3DBG director His role in CITY #05? Creating a diorama to set the episode into

I'm on a trip outside my home country, and since it was very recently Chile's national holiday, i thought of giving it a farewell by giving the girls from Azumanga Daioh a good ol' chilean "asado." I love these characters and i thought of no better way to honor them.

i've long been kinda on the fence about kyoani's arawi adaptations--i've found their love for naturalism kinda at odds with arawi's surrealism and hilariously UN-natural pacing and emphasis, and both kinda cancelling each other out in the process--but not anymore!

i can't spoil CITY episode 5's best trick, but suffice to say minoru ota (director and storyboarder) is a genius and this is truly revolutionary tv anime
