Majority build by EPP+Right-wing, with RENEW being split (and not deciding the vote). howtheyvote.eu/votes/199592
Prior to the adoption, a motion to reject the proposal did not find a majority. Interesting: S&D overwhelmingly against the proposal, but only ~50% voted in favor of rejection. Similar for RENEW: Very few votes for rejection, but only ~40% in favor of adoption. howtheyvote.eu/votes/199567

🌳 🚌 Two votes from the environment omnibus passed with great support, e.g., simplifying packaging rules for smaller businesses in the EU. Them needing representatives in each member state sparked controversy a few weeks back. howtheyvote.eu/votes/198335

🎉 We are now including information on the national parties of MEPs in all of our data! 🔍️ While the focus in the EP mostly is on the political groups, these contain members of many different national parties: A 🇩🇪 EPP MEP might be a member of the CDU, a 🇫🇷 RENEW MEP might be a member of Rennaisance.

This information is now available everywhere through the site. That means you can find the national party an MEP belonged to at the time of each vote directly in the voting list, and their current national party on their profile (and of course in the sharepic): howtheyvote.eu/members/28229

🌍 On Thursday, MEPs votes on a resolution calling for an EU-wide strategy to counter "Islamist entryism". The vote was passed with EPP+Renew and the votes of the far-right, *against* the votes of S&D, Greens, and the Left. howtheyvote.eu/votes/198051
🇨🇳 Recommendations on EU-china political relations, including economic reciprocity, calls for the adherence to human rights and China to use its relationship to Russia to lobby for an end to the war in Ukraine. Votes against from ESN & Left, ~ half of S&D abstained. howtheyvote.eu/votes/197457
🇪🇸🇫🇮🇧🇪 MEPs unlocked EU funds to support laid-off workers in Belgium, Spain, and Finland. Funds can be used for career guidance, job trainings,... Vote pattern similar for all three votes, only a few votes against from the far-right, mostly ESN. howtheyvote.eu/votes/197464

Today, Parliament green-lit AGILE: A new fund ~115 mio € to be used for small/medium sized companies "disrupting" the defence industry. The instruments is claimed to both ensure the support for Ukraine as well as reducing Europes strategic dependencies in the defense sector. howtheyvote.eu/197360
Parliament also approved a legislative initiative concerned with reducing "Psychosocial risks, stress and mental health at work". Votes against from the far-right, and parts of RENEW/EPP. Here, votes against concetrate on countries (e.g. German EPP MEPs voting against). howtheyvote.eu/197484

First, the EP resolution on hybrid attacks and the instrumentalisation of migration in Ceuta passed with EPP, ECR, PfE and ESN support. But this was not a simple left–right split: Renew was divided, and Spanish polarisation was uploaded into European group politics. Data from @howtheyvote.eu:

The vote today in the EP on Ceuta was another case of the EPP voting together with the far-right (via @howtheyvote.eu). It was also a vote the EPP claimed showing a divide 'between those for stand for a strong Union' with EPP and far-right groups together on one side.
💡 We now highlight when a vote is on a "motion to reject" a proposal - in these cases, the semantics of voting in favor/against are flipped, which caused some confusion in the past. Example: howtheyvote.eu/votes/196482
🚨 Tomorrow will be interesting for everyone looking at how conservatives and the far-right behave: We'll have votes on a resolution on the recent "migration crisis" in Ceuta. Right now, 7 resolutions are tabled; only joint motion comes from Greens & the Left group. @nvondarza.bsky.social

Narrow majority to allow the urgent motion to reinstate #ChatControl 1.0 mass scans. 331 in favor. 304 against. 11 abstentions. A dark day for privacy and democracy. On Thursday, there will be a vote on the substance of the law. Only an absolute majority can stop it. 🚨 https://fightchatcontrol.eu

Highlight of the month: the EP's interim position on the next MFF. EPP, S&D, Renew + Greens carried it - but only with 56% in favour. PfE, ESN and most ECR voted against, plus Meloni's FdI abstaining. Voting data from @howtheyvote.eu. A taste of how hard the real MFF vote will be next year.
