Holy shit the new #Tesla Red Rocket is amazing I can't wait for the first compressed air canister puncture! It's going to be 😏 explosive 😏 heh heh

Have you ever noticed how #SilentHill f can be interpreted as Kishōtenketsu? The first ending lays out the story skeleton and the second ending develops it into a coherent world. You reject this ending for a completely different 3rd path. The final ending entwines 2 and 3 to give a complete story.

Demos that end on a cliffhanger boss convert worse than demos that end on a build choice. Wishlisting feels like a decision about your next hour, not about a cutscene. Anyone seen data that says otherwise? #indiegames #gamedev

Why do rich people not care about art anymore? Where are all the wealthy benefactors paying for a retainer of Bachs and Monets? I keep DM'ing bill melinda gates on Twitter the everything app but hes still not on my patreon 😔

I tell Gemini to make a calendar event out of an image. It gets all the details perfect but tells me that I have to click the link to manually create it. Fine... but there is no link

I tell it again to make a link and it does this time! It even generates a link for an ics file. Or at least it generates an image that looks like what links would look like. Material design buttons and everything. Completely useless.

But none of this makes Meta back the money they invested in this. None of this is wringing out All The Money from businesses.

For the record, I do think there's legitimate uses for VR/AR in the workplace at the right price point and with _serious_ investment in software. Imagine manipulating virtual servers and networks in "physical" space. It could genuinely be transformative in a way an admin panel couldn't be.

If you wanted to make useful AR you could probably just buy up a bunch of old Quest 1's, put the internals into a puck, and sell it for cheap. Do a Nintendo Gameboy and have these stupid things everywhere. Create the world of Dennoh Coil and sell people virtual pets. A shared AR world would be wild.

Video meeting software is pretty good. So is design and collaboration software. We've been making productivity software for a long time without 6DOF and depth perception. Making architectural models is also a lot cheaper than $1300 per person viewing it.

And I'm not sure if they've really addressed the logistics of how this fits into your kit. Do you use it in a side room for specific tasks? Is it another occasional tool in your van for the worksite? Does it replace a laptop? What happens when people come up to you and just start talking?

Speaking of productivity, that's about the strongest case, right? Digital keyboards and hand controls and AI agents and they finally implemented legs in the metaverse! But it's still pricey for an office to buy for everyone and what's the killer software for it?

It seems like they're targeting mass market with the form factor and HMD weight + heavy puck. But the price ($1300USD) is insane unless you're well off or heavily invested in the technology. You also risk dropping it for games if you're moving around at all. So... media consumption? Productivity?

It's certainly not for enthusiasts. People are already heated over the 70 degree FOV and light bleed. You're tied to the Meta ecosystem (and now Muse AI lol) but that doesn't compare to the Apple ecosystem that you'd get from the Vision Pro. And they don't even have a Netflix app yet?

Isn't it funny that the Canada and US governments could comfortably meet the basic needs of every citizen with extra for luxuries but we just chose not to? Like hah hah funny, right?

Do you think I could just remake Valve's Artifact and have a hit by removing microtransactions and not having the baggage of expectations?

50 fresh email sent for Stacksquatch this week. Already 2 expressed interest! It's already going better than it did 5 years ago lol

Hot tip for small content creators, especially on #Twitch: 🚨Have a business/personal email in your bio🚨 I'm trying to give away free games that'd be a perfect fit for these adorable little channels and I have no way to contact them. I don't even require a review, just somewhere to put them.
