In Salford, over 45 homes have been targets of racist vandalism. Former deputy leader of the far right Britain First, Ashlea Simon, has ran a campaign of identifying and filming supposed HMOs on social media. Simon now runs her own group, All for England. hopenothate.org.uk/2026/10/22/a...

Ashley Pollard was jailed in 2019 as part of an armed robbery gang that targeted businesses with female employees, seeing them as soft targets. The gang attacked nine shops and a travel agent, terrifying the very community AFE claims to defend. The judge described the gang as “not intelligent”.

Daniel Cooke also has a penchant for brutalising shop workers. Jailed in 2019 after a terrifying attack in a B&M where they threatened staff with a zombie knife, the judge said Cooke and his accomplice had an “appalling” criminal record, including robbery, burglary and drugs offences.

Among the other community-minded types drawn to Ashlea’s movement are Paul Cox and Mark Smith. In 2016, the pair were jailed for 7.5 and 9 years respectively for their role in a Class A drugs enterprise in which £200,000 worth of cocaine was found across 15 properties.

Cox (see above) had previously been jailed alongside fellow AFE member Neil Hudson for their roles in an armed gang that targeted fellow criminals for robbery, including carjacking and violent assaults to obtain information on hidden cash.

Simon likes to claim that she speaks for her area and that AFE is defending the community against unvetted men being housed in Salford. But just who are the men that Ashlea Simon surrounds herself with? Are the men of AFE just salt-of-the-earth locals with legitimate concerns? Let's take a look:

One member is notorious Salford gangster David Totton, who was jailed for a brutal assault on two casino workers, and was later banned from every pub in central Manchester after driving his car into a nightclub following an altercation.

TPUK claim they aren't far right and that extremists are told to leave their protests. But as HNH Head of Intelligence Matthew Collins says in the doc: those claims mean nothing when TPUK are in association with hardened extremists. This week’s footage shows exactly what that company looks like.

Anyone who watched last week’s ITV documentary, Undercover: A Year In Reform, will be aware of Reform’s vetting problems. Far beyond a “few bad apples”, the issue is systemic. And the question remains: why are conspiracists like Sarah Wood drawn to Reform in the first place?

Wood propagated Covid-19 conspiracy theories on social media around the same time. She claimed that lockdowns were “NOT about a virus” and said that “Long Covid Is not a thing. It was made up by the media. Get a grip.”

In YouTube comments Wood also expressed support for the conspiracy theorist politician Andrew Bridgen. Bridgen was expelled from the Conservatives in April 2023 for comparing the Covid vaccine rollout to the Holocaust.

Using a since-deleted Twitter account, in November 2020 - when Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in the US presidential election - Wood responded, “Fraudulent,” to a post asking: “Describe the ‘election results’ in one word.”

As for January 6th 2021, when a mob of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol building? Wood blamed “Antifa” and suggested that police opened the gates and let “the Antifa protestors dressed up as Trump supporters in”.

In July, Wood became leader of Kirklees Council, after Reform won the largest number of seats in May’s local elections. A few years earlier she was busy spreading misinformation about the 2020 US presidential election, the January 6 Capitol attack, and Covid-19.

Adrian White (Wigan) Reform has let Wigan councillor Adrian White remain in the party despite calling for two politicians to be shot. On Michael Heseltine: "Shoot him and his fellow parasites." When Theresa May was rejecting calls to resign as PM, he wrote: “can’t we just shoot her …please.”

Caley Ashman (Dudley) Caley Ashman, who sits on Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, remains in Reform despite using the antisemitic term "goyslop", enquiring about joining the neo-Nazi Homeland Party, and sharing a homophobic post about Douglas Murray.

John Allen (Northumberland) John Allen was kicked out of Reform after we revealed he had said: "I can't wait to see Srarmer [sic] swinging from a lamp post" and commented "I'd shoot Starmer myself if I had the weapon and opportunity."

David Rowan (Kirklees) David Rowan, a councillor in Kirklees, was suspended by Reform in August. We revealed that he had made a homophobic comment on social media and said “Hang the Dwarf” in response to a post about former House of Commons Speaker John Bercow.

Lynn Dean (Staffordshire) Staffordshire Reform councillor Lynn Dean was suspended after we reported on her online activity. She said Ian Cooper would be “sorely missed” and posted: "Blacks have more than made up for what happened to other blacks in the past, with their violence and law breaking."

David FitzGerald (Northumberland) David FitzGerald was elected to Northumberland County Council under Reform's banner in May 2025. His Facebook account exhibited a slew of anti-Muslim content, including posts declaring "everything Islam touches dies". Reform has taken no action.

Steve Biggs (Durham) Last May, Steve Biggs was elected for Reform in Durham. As well as having described Vladimir Putin as someone he admires, Biggs once wrote on social media: “Islam has no place on this earth. One big nuke bomb needed!” He remains in Reform.

Ian Cooper (Staffordshire) Cooper became leader of Staffordshire County Council after Reform won a majority. He was expelled after we revealed he called Sadiq Khan a "narcissistic Pakistani" and commented to a video of Shola Mos-Shogbamimu: “Dr Shaga Bing-Bong…. Time she F’d off back to Nigeria.”

Glenn Gibbins (Sunderland) Gibbins was elected as councillor even after we revealed that he said: “Carnt believe amount of nigerians in town.....should melt them all down and fill in the pot holes!!” He was suspended, then readmitted, before being suspended again after being charged over the post.

Ben Rowe (Plymouth) Rowe, a Reform councillor in Plymouth, has made racist comments online, including accusing Jews of “forcing other races on our societies” and “flooding the west with Islamists”. Like Gibbins, he was suspended by Reform but has since been let back into the party.

Up to 300 far right activists and skinheads will descend on Blackpool on Saturday night for a Oi gig with known nazi bands and musicians. Billed as The Main Event, this Oi gig is nothing more than a nazi jamboree.

These attacks follow more than a year of far-right campaigning against the use of HMOs to accommodate people seeking asylum. This hateful rhetoric and intimidation from prominent figures fuels racist hate, resulting in very real consequences in our communities.

The destruction of homes, whether HMOs or family houses, simply because of the race of its inhabitants, is a dystopian and terrifying vision of where racist rhetoric leads. A very strong response is required.

Salford-based auditor Cameron Mears (AKA ‘cozzy’) has also posted footage of homes that have been trashed, with their doors kicked off, windows smashed and egg smeared up the internal walls. He claimed: "as you can see, Salford just don't want these HMOs here".

The attacks have been enthusiastically welcomed by local far-right auditors and social media influencers. Since they began, Brandon Breen (AKA ‘Struggle of the Streets’) has posted daily videos documenting the aftermath.

The comment sections beneath many of these videos are filled with racist abuse, praise for the perpetrators, and calls for further violence. This is how online hate legitimises real world intimidation.

Across several nights, 25 properties in Salford have been targeted in a campaign of racist intimidation. Windows were smashed and homes were sprayed with “No HMOs”. One house was marked with a swastika, and a pig’s head was left outside another. hopenothate.org.uk/2026/10/15/s...

hopenothate.org.ukSmashed windows, swastikas and a pig’s head: Shameful racist vandalism spree in Greater Manchester – HOPE not hateSince 5 October, a string of anti-migrant attacks in Salford have left family homes with smashed windows and covered in graffiti.  Across four recorded evenings,...

The attacks began in Kersall before spreading to the area in and between Walkden and Little Hulton. The perpetrators claimed they were targeting properties housing people seeking asylum. But several of the homes attacked weren't HMOs at all. Some were family homes with children.

Violence and intimidation is unacceptable whether the home is an HMO or not. But the indiscriminate attacks show that anti-migrant rhetoric endangers any racialised person living in the UK, regardless of status.
