I did a watercolor painting of yachiyo from cosmic princess kaguya to test out the masking tape cutting process for first time! Very excited about this technique I have a video recording some of the tape cutting i'll share in reply!

Some drawings built up from gesture exploration Thinking about how I should balance expressive interpretations with detail accuracy- trying to redefine accuracy as implication and not literal one for one representation. So much to think about!

Even thought I finished the lineart with ink already, I realized I REALLY wanted to watercolor paint this piece so I started lightboxing the lines onto watercolor paper! I needed to fix a hand anyway so, I dont mind the redundancy. Since it's personal art I dont need to focus on efficiency.
