We urge Providence City Council @pvdcitycouncil.bsky.social to override Smiley's veto today. By stabilizing rent, councilors will help keep a roof over more Providence residents’ heads, while supporting community health and saving lives.

Extensive public health research shows that housing insecurity, displacement, and unaffordable rents are linked to anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, increased ER visits, and worse health outcomes for children and families. Housing stability saves lives.

The companies are scared of the growing movement in states and communities to make them pay for climate damages, and they want to escape trial in the growing number of lawsuits over their climate lies.

Climate superfund laws, climate accountability lawsuits, and the end of polluter handouts all share the same goal: saving tax payer dollars making polluters clean up their mess. taxpayers, pay for the damage they caused.
