Though I'm probably nuts to flog the Agile dead horse, I have to point out that the _only_ concrete practice in the Agile Manifesto is the retrospective. All that other garbage—Sprints, backlogs, reviews, points, velocity, epics, POs, SMs, release trains, &c.—is not mentioned. Just sayin'. 1/2

IMHO Postman is the worst thing to happen to API testing. In the old days devs used to write & share tools (ie scripts) to test APIs which were easily extensible and, more importantly, automatable. Now every dev has their own customised Postman collection and testing is manual 😔

I used to quip about programmers being the only people to use fixed-width typefaces, ever since the demise of typewriters and line printers, but I see they’ve now retaliated by building tech that generates beige slides with monospace text

Apparently, film screenplays are also set in 12 point Courier or something, to have a predictable number of minutes of screen time per page, but I’ve never seen one of those.

I didn't even hear the problems (other than a single unison that's been driving me nuts for months). The difference between yesterday and today is night and day. Software development is similar. We think that what we're doing "works." We don't even notice the problems. 2/5

In February this year, I decided to stop doomscrolling the news and start reading romance novels instead. I subscribe to more than a dozen news publications and periodicals (almost all for work/research purposes) and I was maybe spending at least a couple of hours every day dwelling on the bad stuff

Just today I was telling someone that it's okay to have or start an infrequently updated blog, if you make an interesting post twice a year or whatever that's awesome, just don't apologize about it and I still think never explain or apologize for your posting schedule is my best piece of blog advice

Startup idea: solve the problem of everyone (who reads books) knowing which books their colleagues should read, but not knowing how to get them to read them. For example, launch Book Club as a Service: wholesome cloud and consulting services for the literate workforce.

Hard to think of a more poignant expression of the state of affairs in the industry than the Joy of Coding conference taking a break this year.

When developers using an HTTP API want both API docs and an OpenAPI Description, is that because they want them for two different use cases, or because there are two different developers, who work differently? #API

Startup idea: solve the problem of mangled satnav pronunciation in other countries, e.g. with national place name pronunciation packs
