There is no freedom without justice. There is no justice without law. There is no law without police. So, there is no freedom without police. Which is not ideal, but just a fact.

The worst way to find out about what is going on in the world is to rely on stories filed by professional journalists. Except, that is, for all the other ways. This is true even when they don't tell you the things you want to hear.

The Nobel Committee couldn't directly tell the world that Trump was as diametrically the opposite of Peace Prize winner as is possible. But Trump says the ICC is "evil"(!) and has sanctioned their judges. So, they gave the prize to a lawyer and judge who spent five years as part of the ICC.👏

A master strategy as usual mein Gröfaz! It's as far as possible from Ukraine's drones. Much safer.

Prez visiting pacific islands claimed by Japan shows how anti colonial we are. A white man who rules 1/3 of the Asian landmass from a city in Europe went to visit a island in the pacific ocean we invaded in living memory.

Did the Free World make a mistake in buying its ballistic missile defence systems from the US when the US seems unable or unwilling to produce interceptors in the quantities required? Since the US is protected by two oceans, it does not need them to protect its homeland.

I have yet to see a detailed analysis of Russia's upstream and downstream facilities, export terminals, location, capacity, vulnerability etc. It feels likely they are up shit creek sans paddle. But, can anybody point me to one?

Trump has a talent. Like a great stand-up comedian who can tell stories and make us laugh. He tells stories that make people like him. Truth doesn't matter. We don't care if the comedian's stories are true. Trumpers don't care if his are. Fact checking is no blow. How do we combat this?

Trump is killing the US. Soon, all it will have is enemies and hangers-on. A bit like Trump. He has "succeeded" in his life because he is an immoral criminal working in a US society where the majority are moral and law-abiding. This won't work for the US as a nation.

Trump has got where he is by being a thoroughly nasty, immoral and bullying individual. This is his recipe for "success". Why would he not lead the USA down the same path so it can "succeed" in the way he has? Did 70 million US voters mean for this to happen?

If fewer Americans had voted for Trump, Renee Good would be alive and caring for her child today. No matter what lies Trump and his propagandists spread, no matter what nonsense the media prints, no matter what conspiracies MAGA invents, that remains manifestly true.

I wish people would stop speculating about Trump's mental decline. He has always talked irrational nonsense. What his base likes is his delivery and attitude. They don't care how false, childish, nasty or illogical the things he says are. They maybe don't even realise.

Many Ukraine supporters in world beat themselves up for helping to strip Ukraine of its its nukes back in 1994. But in 1994 nobody knew what a bulwark of democracy Ukraine would be. It could have become another Belarus or Kazakhstan. Imagine either with their own independent nukes

More Russian POWs from the 132nd Brigade: Several soldiers have surrendered again, highlighting the ongoing "demilitarization" of this unit. With no motivation, no support, and no chance — their only real option is the white flag.

I am going to have to go back to Twitter. I disparage others for wallowing in their echo chamber, yet my position on anything I strongly care about is rarely challenged here. I might even join the Trump thing. I want to cure the idiots. I hate them making money out of me. But how else to educate?

When Trump was flip-flopping around erratically it was bad enough. Now he seems to have decided on a course of action, and managed to make things even worse. A clueless powerful arrogant narcissist is a disastrous thing.

Trump wants NATO members double the proportion of GDP that they spend on defence. At this rate, they won't have to spend any more on defence to satisfy him. All they have to do is to wait until he's halved the size of everybody's GDP.

And when Trump completely mucks up the US and world economies, like he has with so many of the other things he has run, he won't be able to declare bankruptcy and start again with another USA and another world, or fall back on Daddy's money, or lie, cheat or extort his way out of the mess.

I learned a new word today: redneckonomics this is what Trump is practicing. Redneckonomics is to economics what astrology is to astronomy or quackery is to to medicine. The United States is going down the pan with these imbeciles in charge.

Trump and his court's superpower is that they can tell any lie, no matter how false or shameful, with complete conviction and absolutely not compunction. They are astonishingly good at this, and so their strategy, even though it is built on lies, is hard to defeat. This should be acknowledged.

Repost if you agree that, all across Europe, governments, institutions both at national and EU level should grow a spine and signify to the current US administration "allies don't behave like bullies while cosying up with Europe's aggressor (Putin)" Trump Administration persona non grata in 🇪🇺

Trump et al are negotiating with Russia, giving away things they don't own or control. Ukrainian land, European energy deals. They are used to doing this and making it stick through grift and extorsion. It is how they run their lives and businesses. They will keep doing it unless they are stopped.

Remember: The fact someone accidentally included someone they should not have in a Signal group is NOT the point. That's just a mistake. Government using Signal like this AT ALL is premeditated criminality.

Santiago Mayer@santiagomayer.com

Also let’s be clear about why they’re talking over Signal — they are attempting to skirt their obligations under the federal record preservation laws and ensure no records exists for public review. It’s incredibly illegal, but what do they do that isn’t?

Walt talks gullible nonsense. What is "aerial infrastructure"? Nonsense. No matter what he meant, Putin observed no ceasefire at all. Gullible. He knows this is gullible nonsense and does not believe it. He just needs other people to believe it.

WarTranslated (Dmitri)@wartranslated.bsky.social

"A ceasefire on aerial infrastructure is in effect right after Trump and Putin's call," Waltz claims.

Compulsive liars are commonplace and not a threat to the free world. The dangerous one are those that tailor their lies to be ones that will be believed. This is actually quite easy. You just say things that people want to believe are true.

Darth Putin@darthputinkgb.bsky.social

Dictatorship 101: Its not compulsive liars but compulsive believers that are important.

Trump's professional life, political life and personal life, all rely entirely on deceit. It is as predictable as it is reprehensible that he should lash out at the education system. Educated people are harder to deceive. Educated people don't like Trump. So Trump lashes out at education.

So the MAGA marvel, with the might of the US behind him, issued his bully-boy ultimatum and brought the full might of his deal-making prowess to bear in a call with Putin. Putin, a desperate man with a spent military and a tiny, crippled economy. And Trump got... ...nothing.

The TESLA (a/k/a "TESLER") TAKEDOWN is working... WORLDWIDE! Turns out people really resent an unelected weirdo running our Government & creating economic chaos. Hit Elmo where it really hurts: in his big, fat wallet. If we #TankTesla, It's Ex-X! (a/k/a Twitter) #WinWin Visit www.takedowntesla.com

There are two deeply symbolic aspects to Trump shutting down the Voice of America. The obvious one, that he wants no light in the darkness of lies. And another one, the fact that few of his supporters will have any idea what it was or did.

Calling Trump a king is insulting to just about any modern king, not to mention Elvis. He told us what he wants to be. He wants to be a dictator. Inexplicably, Congress doesn't seem to want to stop him. The US is well on its way to being People's Democratic Republic of Trumpistan.

Trump's clique do not say the stupid things that they do becase they believe them or even think they make any sense. They say them because they know many people want to believe these things and so will happily do so, regardless of how implausible they are. They are clever deceivers.

There's no point in attacking Trump in a piece longer than a short and simple paragraph. Anybody who can understand anything that complicated, already knows Trump is a disaster. So if you write it, then any of his supporters who can understand it, must not care, and rest don't understand it anyway.

What pressure has Trump put on Putin? None. He's cut the victim, Ukraine, off at the knees. All he talks about what good friends he is with the aggressor, Putin. What signs has Putin EVER shown of wanting peace? None. Trump is working to ensure the enslavement of Ukraine, not peace!

Jim Sciutto@jimsciutto.bsky.social

Listen to how Trump describes Putin, who launched the bloodiest war in Europe since WW2: “I've always had a good relationship with Putin. And you know, he wants to end the war…And I think he's going to be more generous than he has to be and that's pretty good. That means a lot of good things.”

American air defence, Himars rockets, and other military supplies save Ukrainian lives. Dead Russian aggressors, destroyed targets and downed missiles all save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, civilians, women, children. Trump is a essentially murdering those Ukrainians. For what?
