HibbittsDesign.org 🇨🇦

Welcome to all the new folks on Bluesky!👋🏼 Here, I share my journey into open-source development, esp. Docsify-This.net, focusing on lowering the barriers to using Markdown for open publishing + education. I also post UX-oriented items, with a resource page at www.hibbittsdesign.org/Open-Source-...

One of the less obvious barriers to open content: diagrams. They're usually images – hard to revise, remix or translate. My new open-source Mermaid plugin for Grav lets you write them as text, as open as the words around them. getgrav.org/downloads/pl... #OER #GravCMS

A round of Grav releases today 🎉 ✅ Open Course Hub 4.8.1 + MultiCourse Hub 2.8.1: optional UX News page, RSS fixes ✅ Open Publishing Space 2.5.2: print styles, cleaner embedded pages ✅ Helios Course Hub 1.3.6 + Open Reader 1.2.3 Downloads: www.getgrav.org Info: www.hibbittsdesign.org

Open Course Hub 2 is here 🎉 My free, open-source Grav course site now has modules by default, plus a course blog that can also hold weekly materials. Also new: module section links, blog tags and archives, and LMS course imports. demo.hibbittsdesign.org/grav-open-course-hub #GravCMS #EdTech #OER

📖 Open Publishing Space 2 is out – my free, open-source Grav skeleton for open guides and books, alongside a blog and other Grav pages of almost any kind. Plain Markdown, no database – for Grav 2 and 1.7. getgrav.org/downloads/sk... #GravCMS #OER #OpenEducation

Fall 2026 courses at BCIT are 40.2% Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC)!

The start of September still feels more like a new year to me than New Year's Day, so it seems like the right time to release a redesign of hibbittsdesign.org site🚀 hibbittsdesign.org An HTML archive of my previous Notion.so site is available at archives.hibbittsdesign.org/2026

Sunday afternoon sneak peek... what started as a new hub for my Markdown projects is now a full site refresh: hibbittsdesign.org I've enjoyed Notion.so, esp. for blog posts, but wanted a subscription-free site going forward. #OpenSource #WebDev #GravCMS #Docsify #EdTech

Fresh project preview – just in time for the new school year. New hub for my Markdown publishing projects: Docsify-This, Starter Kits & Grav Helios, plus free Grav options 👇🏼 paulhibbitts.github.io/markdown-pub... #OpenSource #Docsify #GravCMS #Markdown #EdTech

The new term is about to start, and your open-source Markdown toolkit is ready: Docsify-This (v2), Grav Helios Course Hub, Open Reader, the Converters, and free Grav CMS skeletons. A good opportunity to move your course or book to portable Markdown. www.hibbittsdesign.org #OpenEducation #Markdown

Small addition to Docsify-This – trying out a live chat on the site. Questions about Docsify-This or open publishing with Markdown? Happy to help, hear feedback, or how you're using it. 🔗 docsify-this.net #OpenSource #Docsify #Markdown

Just updated my demo Docsify-This custom-URL UI colors – a reminder you can run your own instance, on your own domain. It turns any online Markdown file into a clean web page, no build step – just an index.html + assets. Self-host it for a custom URL 🚀 docsify-this.hibbittsdesign.org#/

Which open publishing tool fits you? Instant: Docsify-This. GitHub-based: Docsify Starter Kits. LMS export, no CMS: Docsify Common Cartridge Converter. Full course site or textbook: Grav Helios Course Hub, Open Reader, and Helios Converters. www.hibbittsdesign.org #OpenEducation #Markdown

Across Grav Helios Course Hub, Open Reader, and my free Grav skeletons, open authoring is built-in, not bolted on. Edit this Page links go to the Markdown source; optional Git Sync keeps it version-controlled in GitHub or Codeberg. www.hibbittsdesign.org #Markdown

Three converters, one job: get your course or book free of its original platform. Grav Helios Common Cartridge feeds Course Hub. Grav Helios Pressbooks feeds Open Reader, or plain Markdown. Docsify Common Cartridge needs no CMS at all. www.hibbittsdesign.org #Markdown

Some open textbook platforms treat the web as an export format. Grav Helios Open Reader flips that. Reading progress is remembered, plain-text export is ready for AI tools and ebooks. www.hibbittsdesign.org/Grav-Helios-... #Markdown

Start with one course and Grav Helios Course Hub scales with you: add more and a browsable list appears automatically. Course cards show instructor names and status badges; search stays course-scoped. www.hibbittsdesign.org/Grav-Helios-... #Markdown

One Markdown source, many destinations with Docsify-This: embed the same page into Canvas, Moodle, WordPress, or almost anywhere, no duplication. Point-and-click styling via the Web Page Builder, no CSS required. docsify-this.net #Docsify #Markdown

A quick note on why: Docsify-This, Grav Helios Course Hub, Open Reader, and the Converters all share one goal, open Markdown you fully control. No database, no platform dependence. Docsify-This was also a 2024 Open Education Awards finalist. www.hibbittsdesign.org #OpenEducation#OER #Markdown
