Today is International Safe Abortion Day, a global day of action for reproductive rights and a reminder that abortion is health care—no asterisks, no apologies.

Since the FDA approved mifepristone in 2000, abortion pills have become the most common method of abortion care in the U.S., proven to be up to 98% effective when used with misoprostol, and just as safe when administered through telehealth as in-person care.

New look, same Hey Jane. 🧡 In 2021, we launched with a bold idea: technology could make abortion care safe, supportive, and easy to access.

New look, same Hey Jane. 🧡 In 2021, we launched with a bold idea: technology could make abortion care safe, supportive, and easy to access.

Since then, we've grown to 24 states, expanded into reproductive and sexual health care, and fought for mifepristone at the Supreme Court.

This case is the latest step in an ongoing effort to disrupt access to the gold standard medication abortion regimen—mifepristone and misoprostol—despite decades of scientific evidence and safety reviews.

Restricting patients’ options would not make patients safer. The point of baseless litigation like this is to sow confusion and uncertainty for patients seeking time-sensitive care.

We welcome today’s Supreme Court decision to grant a stay in Louisiana v FDA. Hey Jane continues to provide access to high quality, safe and effective abortion care.

Courts should not interfere with FDA’s expert decisions allowing mifepristone to be prescribed by telehealth—and patients should not have to navigate legal chaos to continue accessing safe, legal medication abortion through Hey Jane.

We’re proud that Hey Jane has filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court this week, as part of the ongoing Louisiana v. FDA case.

We also know the far-reaching impact that restricting telehealth access to one of the two drugs used in the most common medication abortion regimen would have for groups that already face disproportionate barriers in access to care.

We urge the Supreme Court to follow the science and reverse the Fifth Circuit court’s baseless order. Because at Hey Jane, we believe that everyone deserves safe and supportive access to the highest quality care without unnecessary barriers.

Telehealth is fundamental to abortion access. For many patients, especially those facing cost, travel, or privacy barriers, it is the only way they can access care. When telehealth access is restricted, countless patients are left without care altogether.

It’s a heavy reality when a patient has to choose between a grocery run and a Pap smear. But according to our latest Hey Jane survey, that is exactly the choice the majority of women are making.

This isn't a budgeting problem. It’s a systemic barrier that forces women to choose between their financial stability and their physical autonomy.

It’s a heavy reality when a patient has to choose between a grocery run and a Pap smear. But according to our latest Hey Jane survey, that is exactly the choice the majority of women are making.

The survey of 700 women found a startling reality: Nearly 2 in 3 delayed or skipped health care this year due to cost. Even more staggering? 1 in 3 are reconsidering having children—not because they want to, but because they simply can’t afford to.

Today, a federal district court judge has granted the FDA’s request to pause Louisiana’s challenge that would halt the dispensing of mifepristone via telemedicine. This is the latest case to attempt to restrict access to mifepristone.

The facts couldn’t be clearer: Mifepristone is safe, effective, and FDA-approved since 2000. When taken with misoprostol, it makes up what is commonly known as the abortion pill, which accounts for more than half of all US abortions.

At Hey Jane, we believe that everyone should be able to make decisions about their own body without unnecessary barriers. We are here if you need care—today, tomorrow, always.

Today, a federal district court judge has granted the FDA’s request to pause Louisiana’s challenge that would halt the dispensing of mifepristone via telemedicine. This is the latest case to attempt to restrict access to mifepristone.

This decision means FDA regulations on mifepristone remain unchanged, allowing abortion-seekers to continue accessing safe, legal medication abortion through virtual clinics like Hey Jane.

If you are undocumented and need an abortion in the U.S., you might feel scared or unsure. Please know this: Your immigration status does not change your right to health care.

Share this thread and help spread the word that there are still options for people, regardless of immigration status.

Proud to be part of this fight! 👏 We also filed an amicus brief because telemedicine abortion care is a lifeline! To everyone feeling anxious about today’s news: Hey Jane is still here and we are still providing care. ❤️

NEW: We joined a brief urging a federal court to reject an attempt by Louisiana politicians to restrict nationwide access to medication abortion. Millions of people depend on mifepristone for miscarriage and abortion care. The court must defend it.
