And he realizes he needs to become a better person to be the father Octavia needs. And then! Blitz and Stolas! Will finally! BE ON THE SAME FUCKING PAGE. For the first time since they were kids!

That's why I think "What Went Wrong" is a Soliloquy, where Stolas is taking stock of his life and why it turned out the way it did and what he can do about it. He's not singing to Blitz or Octavia, he's singing it to himself while he's internalizing all this.

I hope that his upcoming reunion with Octavia will get him to realize he needs to change himself, the way Apology Tour got Blitz to realize he needed to change. Depending on how things shake out, she might outright SAY something like "I don't want you to be punished, I want you to be BETTER!"

And Stolas finally has people in his life (other than his dependent child) who give a shit about him and can (kindly) correct him while still caring about him after. He can make a mistake and be corrected instead of punished. That's going to make a huge difference.

It also doesn't help that Stolas is gay, his life would be a lot easier if he wasn't, and it's something he CAN'T actually change. If he tried to change that and couldn't, it's going to be harder to attempt change again. Change is hard and scary in the best circumstances, but having support helps.

What little we see of Paimon includes him hitting and berating Stolas as a child on his birthday. He's so neglectful I suspect the majority of the attention Stolas DID get from him was negative attention. He certainly wasn't giving the boy positive reinforcement!

(And why having people hit and degrade him allowed him to cope with the guilt he felt over Octavia. He got punished, the cycle got concluded, he can function again.)

(Which is why we see Stolas fall into a fawn response in Trial of Errors. He did something wrong, he should get punished, that's how it works, right? It doesn't matter how it makes him feel, he's just making things worse by arguing!)

Therefore Stolas learns "I do something wrong = I get hurt" not "I do something wrong = I fix it or make amends however I can and I change my behavior/choices". But you can't hate or punish yourself into being a better person.

During his marriage, Stella didn't want Stolas to be better, she wanted an excuse to belittle and berate him and throw his beloved plants at him. It would end when she hurt him as much as she wanted to, not when Stolas fixed whatever made her mad.

I think he doesn't really understand that he CAN change himself. He only recently realized he has the ability to make choices about his life AT ALL, realizing that you can change YOURSELF is a whole new level.

He thinks "therefore I must be punished" not "therefore I have to change." (That's the mistake his haters make about him too! He's BEEN insulted, called out, attacked, people throw garbage at him when he walks down the street! None of that makes him BETTER. No amount of punishment will fix him.)

#helluvaboss #HBS3 #HBS3spoilers I think I just figured out something important about Stolas and why he's Like That. The reason Stolas keeps hurting Blitz and Via is not that he can't admit he made a mistake, he can and frequently does! The problem is the NEXT step.

I think I get so frustrated sometimes is because I want to see Stolitz have time to be a couple, not just a last minute get-together.

It's helping a little to imagine Eric Bauza just smiling down from the heavens Farmer Jim style.

#HelluvaBossSpoilers we already know how Vassago is going to respond to Stolas rejecting him bc when he first tried to ask Stolas out just as the locket came out at the auction and Stolas SHOUTED NO IN HIS FACE, he backed off and gracefully apologized for potentially causing offense

And she will have to realize, maybe in part through his modeling this, that she is not at all the cause of his emotions or responsibile for handling it managing him. She brings him joy, and even if the circumstances of her existing come from some backwards social expectations he wouldnt change Her

Stolas *does* have to eventually have a healthy amount of recognizing that Octavia's emotional state is not always his responsibility or something to manage for her. Being a safe person, he may sometimes take the brunt of her heavy feelings but that doesn't mean he has to accept them onto himself

I think Stolas is & was a good dad, and I also think there's something to be said with the fact that he had no friends and Via seems to have no friends and they both seem to overidentify with the responsibility for what the other is doing. Stolas has more onus, as the parent, obviously #hbspoilers

Someone probably already beat me to this, but aside from spite, I think the reason why Andy is selling Stolas' (AND Stella's) things is because he and Stella are already burning through all the money they gained.

Honestly I think Stolitz should just wear more oversized sweaters. I think maybe this would fix all their problems.

I need to know what happened to Mortimer. Stolas retained his good heart because of him, and I need to see him again! I hope we get a tender or, at the very least, a bittersweet scene involving him in the present.
