I really like @hankgreen.bsky.social's recent take that what AI can be is either utility or slop, and that, for better or worse, software has always been primarily utility for the end user. Here's to hoping we don't let our tech, design and products become slop either π€ youtu.be/dT5IJExTUR4

This video is so good!! You will learn so much and also you should hype it (if you know what that means) youtu.be/MSYQf-iRiz4?...
π£ Survey time - tell us about your experience with AI for software engineering, me and @gergely.pragmaticengineer.com want to know! The survey takes about 11 mins to fill out π results will be published in about a month, full access for those who help out! www.surveymonkey.com/r/tpe-ai-sur...
www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8U7... I've recently moved up north in my country to a smaller city, and the coworking space I go to has people who work outside of tech, and it's honestly *so nice* to just hear about things that aren't tech and software!
Do you have examples or experiences working with MCP servers and solutions? π§βπ» We at @pragmaticengineer.com want to hear from you! Weβre looking into MCP and would love to hear how you/your team or company work with MCP! DM me - or fill out forms.gle/4hWZRh4ZKBvn... - or both!
- What servers do you use, and why do you like them? - Have you built MCP servers? What do they do and who are they for? - Any cool stories of what MCP has allowed you to do? - What's the best things youβve seen implemented with MCP so far? - Do you have any considerations or precautions for others?
awww look at you @bsky.app, making it onto the NYT mini crossword ππ¦ (I don't know how to flag the screenshot as a #spoiler I'm sorry π)
Hank and John created two absolute bangers recently which has helped me understand my relationship with content and the internet, starting with @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social 's video about how we're addicted to things *for a reason*, because they _feel good_: youtu.be/0veampRSw7w?...
And @hankgreen.bsky.social followed up with *the single best metaphor* about the internet: it's like food. So obviously, managing the role that the internet has in life is just as (or more) complex than maintaining a balanced relationship with food, and it all makes sense. youtu.be/9euKCrTyMEc?...
youtu.be/if-IgLJQbPI?... talks about rage bait and controversy as basically the most effective marketing strategy that exists, and it's true and I hate it so much

These are the folks most likely to save PEPFAR. Please call them TODAY and tell them to vote NO on codifying cuts to PEPFAR and other critical, life-saving aid. act.pih.org/global-healt...

I'll be at LDX3 (formerly: LeadDev) in a week, together with the full @pragmaticengineer.com team (with @hejelin.com⬠and Dominic, our editor), in London - vey much looking forward to it! If you'll be there, there will be plenty of opportunities to say hi to us: leaddev.com/leaddev-lond...
Hey you! You should watch this: youtu.be/NSuSyZ92Cjg?... (It's a 4-ish min funny but somehow also profound speech which is not nearly as serious as the thumbnail and title suggests)
π£ What's in your tech stack? Me and @gergely.pragmaticengineer.com want to know! We're doing our biggest @pragmaticengineer.com survey yet, to get a realistic snapshot of what the industry is using, loving and disliking, and we need your help! π www.surveymonkey.com/r/whatisyour...
It takes on average 14 mins to answer the survey, but if you're feeling very speedy you can get through it in about 5 mins π The full report will be published in May, but folks who help us fill out the survey will get early access, plus additional analysis from us! Thank you for helping out! π₯³π
This video contains a lot of what I've needed to hear recently, about creativity and the value of sharing the things you create with other people. Because chances are, on the other end, there's someone who needs it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sZZ...

Being a creative in the tech industry is such a curious place to be - because on the one hand, I know these platforms exist because of the creative process that is software engineering, and developed by creative PMs, devs, designers, people, and at one point, these platforms were supposed to exist..
I constantly revisit this Hank Green talk, dismantling the concept of dreams, and why you have no obligation to a desire you once had, or to your former self - because that person is not only dumber than you, they also *don't exist* www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPto... @hankgreen.bsky.social
Also @hankgreen.bsky.social this is one of the reasons I've never forgotten to take off my lanyard and put it next to the stage anytime I speak at a conference, so thank you for making your interesting lanyard decision so other people won't have to π
