For the new followers, a Gray or "Gy" is a unit of radiation, much like "rads". So my bio reads "100 times rad" which is a joke about how "rad" and "radical" sound similar (and serves as a handy reminder of the conversion. Also, I like heather grey materials like shirts and what not…

Politics hits different when you're an "issue" instead of a citizen

Low-key, kinda sad that I'm not going to try and explain to my wife why a friend might have been offered a futon in a room newly emptied of my mom's junk (that got piled elsewhere because gdi we're hoarders if nothing else).

Like, I get it, you want to show that ONE example of ∂Sales/∂Price = ∂unit-cost…argh, can't find my freshman calc textbook, must have been lost when my car was stolen. It was basically a manufactured example of finding the optimization of the subtraction without doing that subtraction of functions.

[listening to music, thinking about people, verge of crying] Thinking about a friend I met in the astronomy club at Arlington, who I became a peer coworker a few years later, he quit about a decade later, and years later took his life. So angry at my former org for contributing to his burnout.

I miss Jonn so much, and I mostly got to know him as the co-founder of my aspirational-career club, which I never attained. It kind of hurts to think about buying a telescope, because of the people I loved from that club. Especially Jonn.

… there was a rumor I'd been bad-mouthing the IT department. Being HIGHLY Conscious of "professional" respect and knowing that my time in central IT made me basically incapable of claiming ignorance of the security issues my new bosses wanted me to ignore, I would never have said anything bad.

So I came back to my old boss, and basically cried about this rumor that I'd heard about me, and they were so steely unflinching in her expression. Later, after barely escaping my financial ruin, I put the pieces together, because who else would have a reason to be pissed and nothing to lose?

How did I know the org burned him out? Well, we two were the only "Mac guys" in the IT org at the time, and we both left at different times. My new position was being rumored to no longer have funding, and I went back to beg for my old job back, where a former supervisor let me know ...

At the end of our resources, I negotiated resource sharing between opposing forces. I ran out of Monsters, so I asked my wife if I could have one of her energy drinks. She wanted to try the flavor we settled on I could have (she likes to buy all sorts of flavors) and I complied.

if you ever happen to see someone post a joke you don't understand or discuss a subject you aren't familiar with, you are well within your right to complain, and perhaps even scold them if necessary. you are their customer and you have rights
